Target: CEO of the Humane Society, Wayne Pacelle
Goal: Thank the Humane Society and other organizations for rescuing animals from puppy mill
A puppy mill in Jefferson County, Arkansas was recently raided, resulting in the rescue of 180 puppies and a plethora of other animals. Many of these animals were living in their own filth, and had poor access to food or water. Some of the animals also suffer from eye and dental problems due to living in such poor conditions. If it weren’t for the Humane Society and other organizations, this rescue wouldn’t have happened – they should be deeply thanked for their efforts.
Other organizations also pitched in to help, including the Jefferson County Sheriff, Central Arkansas Rescue Efforts for Animals, The Humane Society of Saline County, Out of the Woods, RedRover and Sallis Ranch Large Animal Rescue Inc. When authorities arrived on the property, they found the animals in deplorable conditions. The dogs lived in outdoor facilities, while others lived in trailers. The facilities were not cleaned, so the animals lived in their own feces and had little access to food or water. Also removed from the property were 11 exotic birds, 19 chickens, 20 horses, along with cats, bunnies, and turtles. All were found to be in poor health and some animals required immediate medical care.
The county sheriff assured the public that the animals will no longer live in such filthy conditions. The animals are housed in emergency shelters, and all will receive veterinary care. Unfortunately Arkansas has no laws against puppy mills, allowing operations to flourish in the state. Those involved in the raid should be commended for their devotion to animal welfare.
Dear Wayne Pacelle,
I wish to commend your organization for a recent raid on a puppy mill in Jefferson County, Arkansas. This rescue operation saved 180 puppies and a plethora of other animals from abusive and neglectful owners. I realize that organization such a raid would have involved efforts from other organizations and a lot of funding.
I realize that Arkansas does not have laws that protect dogs from puppy mills, allowing this barbaric operation to continue. I hope that the Humane Society will fight against such business practices to ensure that all animals grow up happy and healthy. Thank you again for your contributions in this raid.
