Ban Inhumane Factory Farms

Target: Representative Jeanne Poppe, chair of the Minnesota House Committee on Agriculture

Goal: Introduce legislation to ban factory farming practices in Minnesota

Factory farms, also known as Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations (CAFOs), are creating unimaginable suffering for millions of animals every day, while at the same time destroying our environment and poisoning our bodies. By maximizing the number of animals raised in a single facility, CAFOs create a completely unnatural environment for the animals, and also breed ever deadlier and more resilient strains of diseases. It is tragic that CAFOs are legal anywhere, yet unfortunately the vast majority of meat in the U.S. comes from factory farms, and Minnesota is a large provider.

Animal cruelty laws alone should preclude the operation of factory farms; CAFO livestock experience a lifetime of suffering and deprivation before being sent to the slaughterhouse. Along with the intense strain CAFOs put on the environment, as well as the vicious cycle of fighting antibiotic-resistant diseases with ever stronger antibiotics, it’s clear to see that factory farms are a threat to public health.

Factory farms have only become standard practice in the last 25 years, so there’s no question our agricultural economy will function just as well, if not better, without them. Minnesota prides itself in being a progressive state, but continues to turn a blind eye to the outrageous cruelty brought by factory farms. Sign the petition to demand legislation banning factory farms in Minnesota.

Dear Representative Poppe,

Factory farms are a threat to public health and the environment, and cause unimaginable suffering to millions of animals every day. Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations (CAFOs) attempt to maximize the density of livestock per facility, which creates an unnatural and inhumane environment for the animals, and also breeds disease at a greatly accelerated rate. Minnesota needs to ban CAFOs.

The powerful agricultural economy in the U.S. used to be built on small family farms, where humane treatment of livestock is standard practice. Due to changing government policies, corporate owned factory farms have become by far the largest providers of meat in the country over the last 25 years. For the sake of public health and the unnecessary suffering of millions of animals, we need to turn away from factory farms and back towards family farms. Minnesota can lead this trend. Please introduce legislation to ban CAFOs from Minnesota.

Quelli che hanno cominciato a rompere i coglioni da piccoli, non hanno ancora finito e ancora non sanno perché lo fanno.
    Quelli lì.
    Dove ci porteranno?

For God’s sake this poor animals are going to be killed. The least that they deserve is to be treated humanly and with respect.
