Rescue Allegedly Malnourished Horses

Target: Tammy Williams, President Windsor-Essex County Humane Society, Ontario

Goal: Remove apparently malnourished and suffering horses from their alleged abuser’s custody.

The apparent poor condition of two horses in a country property has sparked several complaints, but officials have so far made no efforts to rescue the horses. A police officer from another area noted the “malnourished, fly-infested” condition of the animals and reported it to the Windsor-Essex Humane Society. The officer, Joe Melone from Chicago, noted that one of the horses also had a large sore.

Photos taken of the horses seem to show one in particular that is very thin. Its spine, ribs, shoulder bones, and hip bones are all visible. According to the Henneke horse body condition scoring system, this horse is “very thin.”

According to Melanie Coulter with the Humane Society, there have so far been several complaints about the condition of the horses. Despite this, the officers left the scene without taking any action. They claim that an investigation has been started, but so far the horses remain on the property.

Animal cruelty investigations can be long and drawn-out. It’s not fair to leave suffering horses in the custody of their accused abusers — it places the horses at risk of further neglect. Sign the petition below to demand that the horses are immediately removed from the property.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mrs. Williams,

Several complaints have surfaced about the condition of two horses on a property at County Road 42. A police officer on vacation noted that they were malnourished and infested with flies. According to the officer, one of the horses suffered from a large open sore. Despite the fact that this is not the first complaint, the horses remain in the custody of the alleged abuser.

Animal cruelty investigations can take a long time, and allowing these horses to remain in these conditions could result in serious consequences for the horses. Without your help, the horses’ condition could further deteriorate and they could face permanent health issues, or even death. We, the undersigned, urge you to do anything in your power to ensure that the horses are removed from this allegedly horrific situation.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

Why aren’t the authorities acting on this obvious and very visible abuse? The horses need to be rescued and taken away from this evil person IMMEDIATELY!!!

  2. People who allow this abuse to continue are every bit as guilty as the abusers. Get a grip on the situation and do your job!
