Applaud TV Station for Promoting Pet Adoption

Target: Jack Abernethy Fox Television Stations CEO

Goal: Praise television station for its telethon on rescue dogs and rescue organizations

On Thanksgiving night, Fox TV hosted its first Fox’s Cause for Paws: An All-Dog Spectacular that featured only rescue dogs. The telethon aimed to promote adoption of dogs and included various celebrities. Please let Fox Television know you support its decision to feature a telethon devoted to rescue dogs.

Cause for Paws included numerous rescue dog organizations, including the Beagle Freedom Project and Hope for Paws. The show was co-hosted by Hilary Swank and Jane Lynch and featured a variety of other celebrities, including Betty White, Channing Tatum, Miley Cyrus and many more. The celebrities introduced more than 70 dogs on stage up for adoption including pure breeds, mixed breeds and puppies. The show did a great job of focusing on other groups of rescue dogs such as older dogs, special needs dogs, and pit bulls.

The celebrities also presented awards to individuals, including “best rescue transporter.” The award winner, John EJ Murray, drives at least once a week to pick up dogs in high-kill shelters in California and transports them to a non-kill shelter in Calgary, Canada. At the end of his acceptance speech, Swank presented him with the keys to a 2015 Toyota van.

Numerous video clips were included as well. The LA-based Hope for Paws rescue organization taped its rescue of a pit bull and her four puppies. All five of the pit bulls walked out on stage and were introduced to the audience by Tatum. Additionally, the Beagle Freedom Project, an organization that saves beagles from laboratory testing, showed a clip of beagles walking on grass for the first time. Members of the organization walked onstage with several smiling, rescued beagles.

Various celebrities shared stories of their personal rescue dogs and promoted adoption. Throughout the telethon, viewers were reminded that all of the dogs presented were currently up for adoption and to visit Fox’s website to submit an adoption application for any of the animals.

Sign the petition below to thank Mr. Abernethy and Fox Television for their dedication to providing shelter dogs with forever homes.

It would be nice if Fox Television Stations included needy cats in their shows. Next is factory farm animals – but still no cats. No thanks here.

  2. Caroline Blose says:

It would be wonderful if this show happened every week and included cats also. It is time this issue to be addressed along with animal abuse and cruelty. Most of society is clueless.

  3. Winona Johnston says:

How about focusing now on cats? They need your help, too, and are worthy of it!
