Fifty-Eight Dogs Allegedly Severely Neglected Deserve Justice

Target: Stephanie Brinegar-Vipperman, Commonwealth’s Attorney for Patrick County, Virginia

Goal: Demand that the mother and son who allegedly neglected 58 dogs receive the maximum penalty under law.

Fifty-eight dogs were allegedly neglected and kept in deplorable conditions. Fourteen of the dogs were reportedly in poor health and required immediate medical care. Demand justice for these innocent dogs.

Sheriff’s Deputy Ronnie Williams, Patrick County’s animal control officer, visited Caroline Laprad and Charles Dean Laprad’s residence and reportedly found the dogs in various states of neglect. Per Williams, the dogs suffered from skin conditions and appeared to be in poor health. Williams issued a warning to the Laprads, which they allegedly ignored. Upon a follow up investigation, Williams reportedly found the dogs to be in even worse health and 14 of them required immediate medical care.

Caroline Laprad and Charles Dean Laprad were each charged with 14 counts of animal cruelty. The dogs were removed from the home and are receiving veterinary care at Angels of Assisi, a local rescue. Sign below and demand that Caroline Laprad and Charles Dean Laprad receive the maximum penalty under law, if convicted.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Commonwealth Attorney Brinegar-Vipperman,

Fifty-eight dogs suffered when they were allegedly neglected and kept in deplorable conditions. The dogs reportedly had skin conditions and were in extremely poor health. We demand justice for these poor dogs.

Photos of the dogs posted on the Angels of Assisi Facebook page are shocking. Many of the dogs appear to have lost their hair due to skin conditions and those with hair appear matted and dirty. Per Angels of Assisi, many of the dogs will require extensive surgeries and medical treatment to recover from this heinous neglect.

This horrific neglect cannot go unpunished. We demand that you seek the maximum penalty in this case.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

Whatever the maximum penalty is, I’m sure it’s NOT good enough! What is wrong with people who do this? Are they completely immune to animal suffering?
