Justice for Dogs Allegedly Abused in Dogfighting Rings

Target: Michael Yankowski, Lansing Chief of Police

Goal: Find and severely punish all individuals involved in recently discovered dogfighting rings.

As many as 46 dogs recovered in Michigan may have been used in dogfighting operations. The dogs were found over the past several months, with ten alone recovered from a single home in the Lansing area.

It is unknown if any of the dogs found were injured or required immediate veterinary treatment, yet reports allege that a number of the dogs were covered in scar tissue from previous fights. Authorities also seized “several items to help support” their investigation.

While these dogs are now receiving humane treatment and adequate medical care, no one has been arrested yet in connection with these alleged dogfighting operations. More must be done to ensure that those responsible are found and punished to the fullest extent of the law, which could include up to 20 years in prison and fines up to $100,000. Sign this petition to urge the Lansing Police to use all resources available to seek justice for these dogs.

Dear Chief Yankowski,

I was shocked to hear that ten dogs were recovered from a Lansing area home as part of a major dogfighting investigation in Eaton and Ingham Counties. With the discovery of these abused animals, there is now a total of 46 dogs in the area who may have been used as part of at least one dogfighting operation.

Dogfighting is a despicable and cruel “sport” which is rightfully illegal in all 50 states. Thanks to Michigan’s increased penalties for dogfighting, those responsible could face up to 20 years in jail and fines up to $100,000. I urge you to do all in your power to seek justice for these innocent dogs and see that anyone involved in their abuse receive the maximum penalties allowed.

  3. Eugene W Sengstake Jr says:

“those responsible could face up to 20 years in jail and fines up to $100,000”??? Who’s kidding who? What a joke!!! Even if caught (you can’t tell me the “law” doesn’t know exactly who these people are!!!) they will essentially get off with little or no real punishment – much like the bastard we know as Michael Vick – you know – the famous football player – who literally got away with cruelty and murder of any number of poor dogs in the dogfighting arena – – –

    • That Michael Vick is a piece of scum ….. And how do we know he wasn’t involved in this ring? Chief of Police needs to come down really hard on this, the community demands it.

  4. Just kill those rotten Ill minded bastards

  5. We need mandatory sentencing for violent criminals. Anyone who lays their hands on another living creature in violence should spend a long time in jail, and be on parol for life. These type of very scary out of control criminals belong in jail, if you do not think so then you live next door to these violent creeps!

  6. Margaret Melnick says:

What is the law dragging their feet about? Are they mixed up in this somehow? 10 recovered from 1 house should be a clueas to where to start looking. Do something to earn your pay.

  7. Margaret Melnick says:

    oop sorry clue not clueas.

  8. Patricia Williams says:

Take Everything!! Bought with the blood money of the dogs. Take it All. Prison. Fines.
