Man Accused of Kidnapping and Torturing Cat on Social Media Must be Severely Punished

Target: Michael E. McMahon, District Attorney, Richardson County, New York

Goal: Seek the maximum possible penalty for man accused of torturing a neighbor’s cat and posting it to social media.

A man is facing animal cruelty charges after allegedly torturing a cat on Facebook Live. Tyrike Richardson, a 21-year-old from New York City, has been charged with aggravated cruelty to an animal and torturing and starving an animal. The cat in question, a 2-year-old white cat named Chester, was allegedly stolen from a neighbor. Even the DeBlasio administration spoke out against the violence, calling it “incredibly disturbing.”

The live feed was found by NYPD’s Gang Squad. They saw the cat being struck with a wooden chair. Later in the video, the cat was seen laying motionless while being poked and beaten with a broom handle. The man in the video was also seen taunting the cat with a knife.

Fortunately the cat survived and was found in a garbage can by police. “It was frail and weak,” said the detective who found tortured cat barely alive.

After the cat was rescued, a veterinary examination revealed multiple blunt force trauma injuries, including rib fractures and lung, liver, and kidney injuries.

Fortunately, the cat was rescued before it was killed. Chester is now in the care of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), where he will require intensive rehabilitation before eventually being placed in a home.

This type of shocking and deliberate cruelty is unacceptable. Anyone who can do this to an innocent animal is dangerous, and could be capable of escalating the violence to humans in the future. Sign the petition below to demand that the person responsible is punished to the fullest extent of the law.

Dear Mr. McMahon,

A man is facing animal cruelty charges after allegedly torturing his neighbor’s cat and posting it to social media. Tyrike Richardson, a 21-year-old from New York City, has been charged with aggravated cruelty to an animal for allegedly dropping a wooden chair on a 2-year-old white cat named Chester. Rishardson was also apparently seen beating Chester with a broom handle and taunting him with a knife.

Anyone capable of this type of cruelty could be at high risk of hurting more animals in the future or even escalating the violence toward humans. We, the undersigned, ask you to make an example out of the person responsible by seeking the maximum possible penalty under the law.

I’ll personally chop off this monster’s penis with a machete, then take a spear to gouge out both his eyes…….and I’m just getting started. He will beg for mercy, but I won’t give any. I’ll make him suffer for days and days, just like he did to this innocent cat!
