Humans caught intentionally inflicting harm on animals should be jailed for a minimum 10 years.

Target: Australian Government,

It’s been proven that humans that inflict harm on animals are most likely to do the same to other humans. Such harm may include physical abuse, torture, starvation, rape and a long list of heartless cruelty acts. We need to give our inhumane members of society a reason to think twice before acting on their cruelty instincts. Five years in jail and a fine is simply not enough justice and sometimes not enough reason to stop these people from committing such acts. These criminals need to be kept off the streets for as long as possible in order to protect our innocent creatures; both animals and humans.
Animal cruelty is clearly unacceptable and animals (& innocent humans) need as many voices and support they can possibly get. Making such petitions/ laws public may quite possibly reduce the high number of criminal acts against vulnerable and helpless animals. The thought of being locked up for 10 years could very well deter potential criminals. But the policy should be very clearly outlined where specific cruelty acts worthy of 10 years imprisonment are stated. Cruelty and torture to animals really needs to stop and the sooner that society is aware and educated on such laws, the better.
