Justice for Puppy Kidnapped, Beaten, and Drowned

Target: Bill Adair, District Attorney, Walker County, Alabama

Goal: Punish juveniles accused of stealing a puppy, beating it, and attempting to drown it in a creek.

Three juveniles are facing charges after allegedly beating and attempting to drown a 3-month-old pit bull puppy. The dog was allegedly stolen from a neighbor’s yard by the three children, aged 12, 13, and 17, who are accused of breaking down a fence to gain access to the yard. The dog was saved, but died of its injuries a couple days afterward.

The children allegedly tried to bring the puppy in to a local swimming pool, but lifeguards told them to take the animal home as it wasn’t allowed in. According to Acting Police Chief Jason Hare, the children then took the dog to a nearby creek, where they beat is severely and attempted to drown it. The dog was saved by lifeguards who responded to its tortured screams, chasing the children away. The dog was found wrapped in a shirt.

The accused children, who have not been named due to their ages, were taken to a juvenile detention facility. One was charged with theft of property and the other two were charged with cruelty to animals.

This act shows shocking cruelty and a blatant disregard for life. Juveniles involved in animal abuse this severe are likely to escalate their violence later on in life. We must therefore ask that they are punished properly as well as subjected to appropriate mental health screenings in order to prevent recidivism in the future.

Dear Mr. Adair,

Three juveniles are facing charges after allegedly breaking down a neighbor’s fence to steal a puppy, then brutalizing the puppy and trying to drown it. According to witnesses, the children tried to bring the puppy into a local pool but were turned away. Reports say that the children then took the puppy to a nearby creek where they beat it and tried to drown it. While the dog was rescued, it died of its injuries only a couple days later.

Children capable of this sort of violence are at a high risk of escalating their violence to larger animals or even humans. For this reason, we ask that you seek to punish them properly as well as subject them to appropriate mental health screenings in order to prevent recidivism in the future.

  1. To the parents of these kids: GET YOUR CHILDREN TO A PSYCHIATRIST AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!!!!

  2. Place these kids in jail for 10-15 years without parole. They deserve it, show no mercy.

  3. Bear de Mel says:

Cruelty to animals is the most significant marker of 3,the other 2 being arson and curiously bed wetting, referred to as the fatal triad, recognized by the FBI. All serial killers have shown these signs. This needs to be taken very seriously. Penalties for cruelty to animals should reflect how seriously we need to take these crimes.

  4. They need the maximum penalty possible for that level of cruelty. Laws protecting animals need to be MUCH stronger, worldwide. These are sadistic little sociopaths & cowards who need to know they will NOT get away with torturing any creature, no matter how small.

  5. LIZ THOMPSON says:

These “kids” need to be beaten to a pulp and drowned…the country wiould be much better off withouitr them.

  6. Beat these kids and drown them BASTARDS.

  7. Scumbag kids are not children. They are horrible monsters who should be thrown in jail!

  8. Sonja Beyer says:

They need to be taught properly and shown that animals are not subjects to play with or to be treated with cruelty.

  9. Cynthia Mattera says:

To the parent of these kids….You had better get them some psychological help! This is very disturbing what they did to this poor puppy. Not only did they steal him, they beat him severely and tried to drown him. If this were my kid, he/she would be locked up. Please take what they did VERY SERIOSLY!!!! Poor family who owned the puppy must be devastated. Im so sorry for your loss. He is now safe in Gods hands 🙁
