Justice for Puppy Kidnapped, Beaten, and Drowned

Target: Bill Adair, District Attorney, Walker County, Alabama

Goal: Punish juveniles accused of stealing a puppy, beating it, and attempting to drown it in a creek.

Three juveniles are facing charges after allegedly beating and attempting to drown a 3-month-old pit bull puppy. The dog was allegedly stolen from a neighbor’s yard by the three children, aged 12, 13, and 17, who are accused of breaking down a fence to gain access to the yard. The dog was saved, but died of its injuries a couple days afterward.

The children allegedly tried to bring the puppy in to a local swimming pool, but lifeguards told them to take the animal home as it wasn’t allowed in. According to Acting Police Chief Jason Hare, the children then took the dog to a nearby creek, where they beat is severely and attempted to drown it. The dog was saved by lifeguards who responded to its tortured screams, chasing the children away. The dog was found wrapped in a shirt.

The accused children, who have not been named due to their ages, were taken to a juvenile detention facility. One was charged with theft of property and the other two were charged with cruelty to animals.

This act shows shocking cruelty and a blatant disregard for life. Juveniles involved in animal abuse this severe are likely to escalate their violence later on in life. We must therefore ask that they are punished properly as well as subjected to appropriate mental health screenings in order to prevent recidivism in the future.

Dear Mr. Adair,

Three juveniles are facing charges after allegedly breaking down a neighbor’s fence to steal a puppy, then brutalizing the puppy and trying to drown it. According to witnesses, the children tried to bring the puppy into a local pool but were turned away. Reports say that the children then took the puppy to a nearby creek where they beat it and tried to drown it. While the dog was rescued, it died of its injuries only a couple days later.

Children capable of this sort of violence are at a high risk of escalating their violence to larger animals or even humans. For this reason, we ask that you seek to punish them properly as well as subject them to appropriate mental health screenings in order to prevent recidivism in the future.

  1. Dont sick kids like that become killers? So unfeeling for another being, who can kill a sweet puppy? Only monsters thats who.

  2. The laws and legislation around animal abuse need to be strengthened and increased!
These children’s parent need to be prosecuted as well!
    This behaviour starts at HOME!!!

Mahatma Gandhi – “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”

  3. I would LOVE to have a “talk” with these parents and show them a thing or two on how to go about “disciplining” those children.

  4. Tanya Knappman says:

There obviously is something very, very, very sick with these monsters who would do this to an innocent animal! !!! The beginnings of serial killers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. These “kids” should be prosecuted as adults. When kids commit acts such as this one, so begins a life of crime. If they knew they’d receive the same punishment as adults, maybe they’d think twice. Granted this kind of trash (most likely bred from trash as well), don’t think or learn or even care, which is why they do what they do.
Every day I read about these atrocities committed against defenseless animals and it saddens and disgusts me. But then I read the comments and it makes me feel better knowing how many people feel the same! Eye for an eye!!!!

  6. Eugene W Sengstake Jr says:

OMG!!! What kind of kids are people raising there days??? These kids deserve the maximum possible punishment – which will probably be nothing more than a slap on the wrist. And then what about the parents??? Why have they not instilled any decency in their kids??? or are these kids merely a reflection of their parents and how “they” think??? It’s a sad world we live in – – –

    • If you think this is new and has been happening for thousands of years you need a reality check. Little monsters have always been born and bred in every nation.

  7. They need to be tried as adults. Period. They’re not children. They’re a preteen and two teenagers. Of course the names will never be released because of the bleeding hearts in our world who will never allow names of “children” under 18 to be published (sort of like the little bastard in the Delhi rape case a few years ago who escaped prosecution and public naming because he was 17, as if that isn’t old enough to be labeled an adult)

Little bastards like this will continue to commit a string of crimes and will continue to be in and out of juvi and then jail and then prison as their pattern of fucked up behavior escalates. This is not an IF, it is a given. There is no rehabilitation possible for individuals like this. Their personality is already set in stone.

  8. I’d like to beat their ass n dunk their head in the creek do they understand what they put that poor puppy through..rotten, dirty hoodlums!!!

  9. Lynne Goodwin says:

I will NEVER understand how some humans enjoy torturing and/or killing animals. For children to even consider doing this to a puppy, let alone actually carrying out this sick plan, is horrifying. They need to be named, severely punished and possibly locked up in a psychiatric facility for a very long time, as they will definitely pose a threat to animals and humans in the future. They are not normal and never will be. The parents need looking into as well. They are responsible for this and should be prosecuted. It’s time parents were held to account for what their kids do. Then maybe scum like them would start acting more like responsible parents.

  10. Peter Farina says:

Put them down before they can do any more harm. I don’t care if they’re 12, 13 and 17. It will save much more money down the road.
