Target: Founder of Animal Cruelty Task Force of Ohio, Steffen Baldwin
Goal: Thank Steffen Baldwin for rehabilitating abused dogs
Often times rescued fighting dogs are put down due to their aggressive behavior. These dogs are deemed unsuitable for life outside of the fighting ring, but bait dogs can sometimes be given a second chance. These dogs are chosen for their sweet temperament, but instead of going to a loving family, these dogs become training dummies for the more aggressive fighters. These dogs are teared to shreds because their owners care so little for the dogs’ well being. One man, Steffen Baldwin, recently rescued a bait dog and is currently rehabilitating her. This man has fostered countless dogs and cats and he should be thanked for his efforts.
Belle is a rescued pit bull who was used as a bait dog. When she was rescued, Belle’s entire muzzle was mangled, and she sported a ripped ear. For the past seven weeks, Baldwin has been rehabilitating this dog for life in a loving family. Daily activities and objects were massive obstacles, as Belle had never been introduced to them before. Canine relationships were often a touch and go procedure, as Belle learned to be afraid of other dogs at a young age.
Her wounds have healed over, but Belle still sports scars from her previous life. Her ear will forever remain mangled, but she is learning to trust human beings and other dogs. Belle no longer falls from the couch, and can be seen romping around on furniture. No longer will Belle wake up in fear, wondering which new dog will rip her apart. Instead, she is able to wake up and go to bed at night feeling safe and loved.
Steffen Baldwin has more than a handful of dogs living with him, and countless other dogs and cats that he fosters. He strongly believes in rehabilitating dogs, and his dedication has shown with Belle. This man should be thanked for his work and commitment towards improving the life of animals and humans.
Dear Steffen Baldwin,
Recently a story involving you and Belle the rescued pit bull was released by The Huffington Post. In the article you explained Belle’s background and the process it took to bring this dog around. It angers me that a human being would make two dogs fight for entertainment, but it warms my heart to know that there are people out there who will rehabilitate dogs who’ve lived through this life. I cannot imagine the struggle Belle went through, but I am glad that she has received a second chance at life.
I am writing this letter to thank you for your work and dedication. Not many people have the time or energy to look after these animals, but I can tell that you deeply care about your pets. Please continue with your work, and know that many people appreciate your efforts.
