Adopted Dog Found Starving to Death Deserves Justice

Target: Patrick Griffin, New Haven State’s Attorney

Goal: Permanently ban woman from owning animals after she allegedly adopted a dog and allowed him to starve until he was emaciated.

A dog named Rudy was reportedly found starving on the streets after his owner adopted him from the Humane Society. Animal Control Officer Judy Omstead said the dog was “skin and bones,” adding that there was no medical reason for the poor dog to be so skinny. Rudy was taken to the veterinarian where x-rays, blood work, and other tests were ran. It was “pure starvation,” to blame for the dog’s emaciation, said Omstead.

The staff at the Humane Society where Rudy was adopted told outlets that they don’t have strict requirements in place, which explains why Rudy ended up in the hands of a careless owner. Rudy has since been rescued by animal control officers and placed with a new family, but the horrendous suffering he endured for months on end is appalling. The owner faces animal cruelty charges, which in many cases amount to nothing more than a minor fine.

Anyone who would allow an animal to starve to the point that this poor dog did should never own animals. That’s why it’s imperative that we take action to ensure that people are not allowed to mistreat animals. Please add your signature to the petition below to demand that Rudy’s owner be permanently banned from ever owning animals again, if found guilty.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Griffin,

A dog was adopted from the Humane Society only to later be found roaming the streets completely emaciated. According to reports, the owner had allowed her poor dog, named Rudy, to starve for months on end.

This is a sickening act of animal cruelty and neglect. Unfortunately, unless people like this are appropriately punished, they’ll continue to cause more animals to suffer. That’s why we, the undersigned, demand that this woman be permanently banned from owning animals in the future, if found guilty.

Sincerely,

  1. Mary Harrington says:

Do something and do it now. What is the matter with people. We all have problems. But to take it out on innocent dogs is a crime that needs to have punishment that fits the crime. And guess what that punishment would be. Do it! Make it happen. Make these people know there really is going to be a consequence for their actions that will not be pleasant. Do it!
