Justice for Dog Allegedly Tied to Trailer and Left to Die

Target: Ed Brodsky, State’s Attorney for Sarasota County, Florida

Goal: Demand that the couple who allegedly tied their dog to a utility trailer and left it to die receive the maximum penalty under law.

A senior dog was reportedly tied to a trailer and left to die. The dog’s owner told deputies that she could not afford to euthanize the dog and that she wanted the dog to die naturally. Demand justice for this poor dog.

When deputies found Sputnik, they described the dog as being in extreme distress. The 14-year-old terrier mix reportedly suffered with matted fur, extreme dental decay, blindness, deafness, and was emaciated. Per sheriff’s reports, Sputnik was also covered in maggots and tethered with a cable without access to shelter.

Sputnik was taken to a veterinarian and euthanized. Diana Harrelson was charged with aggravated animal cruelty, a misdemeanor count of animal cruelty, and abandoning an animal to die. Joseph Shepherd, Harrelson’s boyfriend, was charged with abandoning an animal to die and a misdemeanor count of animal cruelty. Sign below and demand that Harrelson and Shepherd receive the maximum penalty under law, if convicted.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear State’s Attorney Brodsky,

A 14-year-old dog had to be euthanized after it was allegedly tethered to a trailer and left to die. The dog was reportedly emaciated and in extreme distress. We demand justice for this innocent dog.

A good Samaritan contacted the sheriff’s office after they rescued Sputnik from outside the home. Per sheriff’s reports, Sputnik was emaciated, blind, and deaf. Sputnik reportedly had multiple medical conditions, including a maggot infestation, and was suffering tremendously. Deputies stated that Harrelson knew about Sputnik’s declining condition, but chose to leave the dog behind when she moved.

This horrific cruelty cannot go unpunished. We demand that you seek the maximum penalty in this case.

Sincerely,

  1. Guilty as charged! No excuse for animal cruelty. Pets give comfort and love to humans yet this is how this bloody couple repay their kindness to their aging pet Sputnik. Absolutely cruel and mean. I hope they get what they deserve..the harshest punishment , jail and fine and permanent ban from keeping an animal.

  2. Cruel sick evil vile worthless scum. They should rot in hell for the pain and distress they caused the poor innocent dog.

  3. Death wish for these 2 animal abusing/murdering scumbags.

Here we go again, stinking people in a stinking country with there vile ways of treating there animals. A lethal injection will get rid of the scum on this earth. Save the animals, not the bloody people. I’m sick of reading all this cruelty in America. They are not human beings, why the hell dosent the courts get tougher and make an example of these toe rags, fine them in the highest degree, so they loose there homes and there cars, and hopefully they crawl back under a stone where they came from.

  6. I would also like to burn this whole pack of animals alive and torment a lot more to death. It is no longer enduring like these poor animals must suffer. These are all feeling cripples of these monstermen.
They should be extinguished. So much exorbitant brutality and absolute cruelty is no longer to be surpassed.

    Cowardly human scum

Wanted the dog to “die naturally”? By her definition, putting a bullet through her alleged brain would make her “die naturally” as well!
