Support Ban of Wild Animals in Circuses

Target: Melissa Mark-Viverito, Speaker of the New York City Council

Goal: Praise the New York City Council on voting to ban wild animals in circuses.

In a recent vote of 43 to 6, New York City has made history by deciding to ban wild animals from performing in circuses. This is great news for the animals and for the people fighting so hard for those who cannot speak for themselves.

Animals trapped in the circus face a variety of hardships and are often victims of abuse and neglect. They are typically kept in small cages where they are denied everything that is natural to them. In addition, these animals are usually put through a grueling training process that affects them mentally and physically. Thankfully, more and more people are beginning to realize how cruel it is to trap wild animals and force them to perform.

Sign this petition and praise the New York City Council for making this monumental decision to help animals.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Ms. Mark-Viverito,

Recently, the New York City Council voted on whether or not to ban wild animals from performing in circuses. In a landslide decision, the council voted to implement the ban, which is great news for the countless animals trapped within the entertainment industry.

As you are aware, animals in the circus are denied everything natural to them and face a variety of physical and mental hardships. They are typically forced to go through a torturous training process and are often the victims of abuse and neglect. Thankfully, people are becoming more aware of the cruelty behind the scenes and are fighting for the animals’ freedom.

Thank you for making the compassionate choice to ban wild animals in the circus. I can only hope you inspire more cities to follow in your footsteps.

Sincerely,

Finally people are reading and understanding the true meaning of the word WILD… Thank you sincerely.
Please make sure these retired animals are sent to an accredited safe sanctuary, and not sold over seas to have their abuse continued.

And agreed, whenever any such exploitative enterprises are actually shut down anywhere, we must also work to ensure these poor, exploited animals go to proper sanctuaries, NOT bought and traded for other sleazy, torturous, for-profit schemes.
