Crack Down on Heartless Pet Abuse

dogfighting michigan law

Target: Governor of Connecticut Dannel Malloy

Goal: Ensure those convicted of animal abuse receive maximum penalty

A Connecticut woman was recently arrested on suspicion of abandoning a pit bull in her foreclosed home. The dog was discovered – dead and locked in a spare room – by a bank representative inspecting the residence. Police believe that the dog was locked up while still alive, and have confirmed that the woman was the last person to live in the household.

Another Connecticut resident was spotted holding his girlfriend’s cat by its tail and spraying it directly in the face with a water hose for nearly five minutes. He was then observed pulling the feline up by a leash, swinging it around, and hurling it into his back yard. The man claims he was simply “giving the cat a bath,” but the animal was found with dried blood on its hindquarters. A veterinary examination also revealed trauma to the ear, muzzle and tail.

This behavior is cruel and disgusting. Individuals who abuse the animals they promised to care for should receive the maximum penalty for their sadistic behavior.

Sign this petition and urge government officials to create and enforce laws ensuring that animal abusers serve the maximum penalty for their horrendous acts.

Dear Governor Malloy,

I was horrified to learn of the animal abuse and neglect that is taking place in Connecticut. As you may know, a local woman was recently arrested for locking her pet pit bull in her foreclosed home and leaving it to die a slow, cruel death brought on by dehydration and starvation. Another Connecticut resident was recently charged with animal cruelty after a neighbor witnessed him torturing his girlfriend’s cat with a water hose.

This inhumane, sadistic behavior cannot not be tolerated. By enforcing maximum sentences for individuals convicted of animal abuse, you can help prevent defenseless cats and dogs from being abandoned and tortured.

Please do everything in your power to help ensure that animal abusers are penalized to the full extent of the law. Pet owners who abandon and abuse their animals should not escape the courts with little or no penalty.
