Stop Selling Cruel Glue Traps

Target: Duncan Macnaughton, CEO of Mills Fleet Farm

Goal: Stop selling glue traps that keep animals suffering for days before death.

Mills Fleet Farm is a popular retailer in particular parts of the U.S. that unfortunately still sells glue traps despite knowing these traps are especially cruel. It is time to stop selling these terrible traps.

Glue traps are a type of rodent trap that lure animals onto the pad, typically using food, and once on the pad, the animal is stuck to the sticky top layer. The animal immediately panics and death can take days. The animal will do almost anything to get away from the trap, including chewing off their own limbs. In addition, these traps can capture non-targeted species including family pets and endangered species. Even the Center for Disease Control advises people not to use these traps as they harbor disease from the animals’ urine and feces.

Sign this petition and demand Mills Fleet Farm stop selling these barbaric traps.

Dear Mr. Macnaughton,

Despite knowing glue traps are one of the cruelest and most unsafe traps on the market, your company continues to sell these barbaric devices. It is time to stop selling these awful traps.

Animals are lured onto the glue trap, typically by using food, and once on the trap, get stuck to the surface. Panic begins to set in and the animal becomes desperate to get away. It is not uncommon for animals to chew off their own limbs in order to escape or to rip off their own skin, fur, or feathers. Death can take days and throughout that entire time, the animal is panicking and trying anything to escape. Non-targeted animals can also get stuck in these traps, including endangered species and family pets. Even the Center for Disease Control advises not to use these traps as they harbor bacteria and pathogens from the animals’ urine and feces.

Please consider ending your sale of glue traps. These traps are cruel, unsafe for humans, and unnecessary.

Horrible devices designed to torture – stop this!

  2. Tarek J Sabra says:

Columbia University was using glue traps a couple years ago when I was there. The business school stopped because of a stink caused by me removing them (and trying to save little ones that were already stuck on there).

Doing the right thing means never having to apologize.

  3. Cynthia Mattera says:

These traps are totally inhumane. Please stop selling them, and make them illegal!

  4. C. Davis says:

I had Sears come a few years ago for pest control. They thought I would be ok with them leaving these glue traps, I said no way, ill catch and release them. The Sears guy said he has a customer that actually cuts the legs off of the mice and reuses the traps, he was laughing while he told me this. How horrible, they should be banned.

  5. outlaw these cruel killing glue traps for good now.

  7. There are NOT vermin and they don’t cause disease. Rats have been shown scientifically not only to show empathy but they care for their young and they will even help other’s even if it means putting their own lives at risk, why, they sound better than some(most) humans! In addition, based on the CDC the number of cases reported of people getting ill from rats is only 1 – 2 per year but human to human transmission of influenza (flu) is has high as 35 Million per year (and with 50,000 gone every year). Let’s make this a better 2018, a better world for all!
