Target: Cathy King, Chief Executive at World Vets

Goal: Commend the World Vets organization for their volunteer work helping animals and providing animal care education around the world

Nico was an abandoned puppy found by the World Vets team while on a mission in the Dominican Republic. Like many animals helped by World Vets on that trip, Nico was hungry, dehydrated, wounded, and covered in fleas and ticks. World Vets staff nursed him back to health and adopted him into their family. Thank Cathy King, founder and Chief Executive at World Vets, for the care this organization provides to animals like Nico.

World Vets is a volunteer organization that develops, implements, and manages international veterinary and disaster relief programs to help animals and educate people about the care of their pet animals and livestock.  They work in 39 countries on six continents to create a world where all animals have access to skilled veterinary care.

In addition to the mission in the Dominican Republic, where they fixed and provided veterinary care for over 375 animals, World Vets has had an impact throughout the world by supplying care and education. A small sampling of their work includes:

  • Provided financial support to local veterinary clinics to care for injured and lost animals after the devastating tornadoes in the United States Midwest
  • Provided veterinary supplies, financial support, and volunteers to help animals affected by Typhoon Haiyan in the Phillipines
  • Provided free veterinary surgical instruction and training in Latin America

Thank Cathy King and World Vets for the great work being done by her organization.

Dear Ms. King,

Your organization has done some amazing work with animals, especially the recent help you provided for animal victims of the United States Midwest tornados and Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. Often the suffering of animals is overlooked in the very real human devastation caused by these disasters, but pets and livestock also need care. The work done by World Vets is unique and vital both during times of disaster and those of calm, and helps ensure care for animals as well as essential veterinary skills and medicine in these countries.

Ms. King, thank you and World Vets for the work you do every day both domestically and internationally to help animals in times of need and to teach vital skills in developing countries. Your work is appreciated.
