Stop Forcing Bears to Do Ridiculous Tricks for Entertainment

Target: Johnny D. Welde, Leader of Welde’s Bear Show

Goal: Demand that Welde’s Bear Show retire its bears to an accredited sanctuary.

Welde’s Bear Show is a traveling “educational” bear show that forces bears to do ridiculous tricks in front of large, jeering crowds. Welde’s is currently on tour, and it is time to stop this alleged unnecessary cruelty.

The bears used in Welde’s Bear Show are forced to ride scooters, balance on balls, pull their bodies through hoops and walk on their hind legs. Training techniques for wild animals typically include excessive chaining, abuse and neglect. While they travel, the bears are kept in small cages where they allegedly have limited access to the outside world and friends. In the wild, bears will roam great distances, play with friends, climb and build nests. In captivity, these animals are denied everything natural to them.

Sign this petition and demand vthat Welde’s Bear Show retire its bears to an accredited sanctuary. If the owners truly care about the bears’ well-being, then they will know a sanctuary is the best place for them.

Dear Mr. Welde,

Your show claims to be educational, however forcing bears to do ridiculous tricks for human entertainment is anything but educational. It is time to stop forcing these bears to perform and let them live the life nature intended.

In the wild, bears roam for miles, play with friends, splash in rivers and lakes, sunbath, climb and build nests. In captivity, these bears are unable to do these things and are instead subjected to cages and forced to ride scooters, walk on their hind legs, balance on balls and do tricks with hoops. Not to mention, the arenas where the bears perform are incredibly stressful environments for these wild animals because they are typically crowded and loud.

Please consider retiring your bears to an accredited sanctuary where they can happily live out the rest of their days. The least you could do is stop forcing these bears to perform.
