Justice for Puppy Cruelly Thrown From Balcony During Fight

Target: Anita Alvarez, Cook County, Illinois State Attorney

Goal: Man who allegedly threw puppy from a third floor balcony must be harshly punished, if guilty.

A 10-month-old terrier mix puppy was reportedly found with cracked ribs, a broken neck, and a fractured pelvis after someone cruelly threw it from the balcony of a third floor apartment. According to authorities, the dog fell more than 30 feet before hitting the pavement. The eight-pound puppy, named Callie, had extensive injuries, said Police Sergeant Michael Tews. Sergeant Tews says Callie was lying helpless in the alley with blood and foam coming from her mouth, but the tiny animal began wagging her tail when he arrived. Callie was rushed for treatment, but it’ll take her months to recover enough to be up for adoption.

According to reports, a man named Melvin Coleman threw Callie, his girlfriend’s dog, during an argument with his girlfriend. According to police, the man had threatened to throw the poor dog out the window for weeks. According to the animal shelter where Callie was placed, no eyewitnesses have came forward and Coleman is only facing a misdemeanor charge for the alleged violent act of animal cruelty.

With nothing but a misdemeanor charge and a measly fine, the innocent puppy who was allegedly thrown from 30 foot balcony probably won’t get the justice she deserves. Please sign this petition to urge the authorities to ensure that this man is harshly punished, if guilty.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Ms. Alvarez,

A small puppy was reportedly found foaming and bleeding from her mouth after the owner’s boyfriend allegedly threw her from a balcony. According to Police Sergeant Michael Tews, the puppy was lying in an alley barely moving. The puppy’s neck was broken, her pelvis fractured, and her ribs cracked.

The man accused of this cruel act had reportedly been threatening to throw the puppy out of the window for weeks. It seems this person committed this violent act of animal cruelty out of pure anger and malice, which means he’s a danger to society. Unfortunately, he’ll only face a misdemeanor charge and a measly fine. That’s why we, the undersigned, urge you to do everything possible to ensure that this person receives the harshest possible penalty.

Sincerely,

  1. LINDA GAFFNEY says:

This is a piece of shit coward!!! To pick on a dog is just too
sick. I would like to throw him from a balcony, but I want to beat him up first then hang him from where he will fall from and then just toss him as if he were garbage. He could quite possibly do this to a human. LOCK HIM UP!!!!

  2. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. Sick and tired of these gutless cowards. We dont want them in our society – nor do we want the useless ass holes that just give a slap on the wrist!!!!

  3. The BIGGEST problem is this: Even if this man is found guilty and punished to the MAXIMUM that the law allows, he will still receive a very light sentence. WILL NOT BE ENOUGH !!! We need MUCH STRONGER Animal Protection Laws, and MUCH TOUGHER penalties for those who are guilty of animal abuse & cruelty. The only way to get this is by our American Citizens being willing to contact their own state lawmakers and be more demanding of them. Let your state lawmakers KNOW how you feel regarding Animal Welfare Issues. Let them know that you expect them to be willing to introduce, support and HELP PASS laws that will really benefit animals.
