Protect Birds From Cruelty in Farms and Labs

Target: Sonny Perdue, Head of United States Department of Agriculture

Goal: Expand the Animal Welfare Act to protect birds.

Back in 1966, the Animal Welfare Act (AWA) was signed into law and is the only Federal law that regulates the treatment of animals that are commercially bred and transported, used in research, and exhibited to the public. The law protects and demands a minimum level of care for these animals. Unfortunately, the law does not protect birds and it is time for that to change.

Birds are incredibly intelligent, social and curious animals that deserve protection as much as the chimpanzees, monkeys, dogs, cats, guinea pigs, hamsters, and rabbits do. Unfortunately, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has failed to expand this protection. Without protection, breeders and handlers will continue to be allowed to stuff these birds into small, cramped cages, deny them veterinary care, and not give them sufficient needs to survive including food, clean water and sunshine.

Sign this petition and demand the USDA expand the AWA to protect birds. Not only are birds intelligent, but they can feel pain just like you and me, and it is time to prevent unnecessary cruelty.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Perdue,

The Animal Welfare Act (AWA) is the only Federal law that gives protection to animals used in research, that are commercially bred and transported, and exhibited to the public. Unfortunately, the law only covers about ten percent of animals, including chimpanzees, monkeys, dogs, cats, guinea pigs, hamsters and rabbits. The law does not protect birds and it is time for that to change.

Birds are incredibly social, curious and intelligent animals. They also can feel pain, just like you, me and the animals we share our homes with. Without AWA protection, breeders and handlers can continue treating birds with no respect for their well-being. They will still be allowed to stuff birds into small, cramped cages, deny them veterinary care, and not give them sufficient needs to survive including food, clean water, and sunshine.

Please consider expanding the AWA to include and protect birds. These animals need and deserve our protection from unnecessary and preventable cruelty.

Sincerely,

  2. THIS KIND OF BARBARISM AGAINST LIVING CREATURES IS LESS THAN INHUMANE AND MUST HAVE CONSEQUENCES FOR THE CRIMINAL RABBLE!
STOP ULTIMATELY THESE ENDLESS INCONSIDERATION FOR THE WHOLE WORLD !!!

Those who experiment on animals should never be able to quiet their own conscience by telling themselves that these cruelties have a worthy aim.” Albert Schweitzer, physician/Nobel Laureate.

LET THEM EXPERIMENT ON THEIRSELVES, THIS INSANE SCUM

When making Laws for every species of animal Think on This:
“Ye must not only have kind and merciful feelings for mankind, but ye should also exercise the utmost kindness towards every living creature.
The physical sensibilities and instincts are common to animal and man.
Man is, however, negligent of this reality and imagines that sensibility is peculiar to mankind, therefore he practices cruelty to the animal…..
In reality what difference is there in physical sensations! Sensibility is the same whether you harm man or animal: there is no difference. Nay, rather, cruelty to the animal is more painful because man has a tongue and he sighs, complains and groans when he receives an injury and complains to the government and the government protects him from cruelty; but the poor animal cannot speak, it can neither show its suffering nor is it able to appeal to the government.
If it is harmed a thousand times by man it is not able to defend itself in words nor can it seek justice or retaliate…..
Therefore one must be very considerate towards animals and show greater kindness to them than to man…. Man is generally sinful and the animal is innocent; unquestionably one must be more kind and merciful to the innocent”. Baha’i Faith Writings

  7. All Animals should have the greatness laws to protect them. For they can not protect themselves. They cannot speak nor escape man. Look at Trumps sons both big game hunters, slaughters of the innocent. Look how the operators of the trail rides at the grand Canyon commit the most unthinkable crimes against innocent animals. When a horse or mule can’t or won’t carry overweight packs or fat ass people or mean kids up and down the high, treacherous narrow trails or they are sick or injured or plain worn out the operators make the others on the trail go on and then push the sick or injured animal over the steep side of the canyon.
And they don’t always die sometimes even still alive days later lying there in agonizing pain in the boiling sun when the operators and people are returning. Goggle horse tortue in the grand canyon. The animals have given their heart and sole to adhere to every command of these heartless people (that has barely fed and watered them and never given them any veterinarian care). You all must speak up and boycott the trail rides at the Grand Canyon.
Love and mercy to all the animals of the world.

  9. Bev Woodburn says:

The Animal Welfare Act (AWA) must bring into Law immediately that all defenceless and innocent birds are safe and protected from the heartless and evil human species.
I am sick and tired of the atrocities that are committed against all animals worldwide.
