Applaud Retail Store for Banning Angora Products

Target: CEO of ASOS, Nick Robertson

Goal: Applaud ASOS for pulling angora products from the shelf

Trendy European clothing stores have recently begun to pull angora products from their shelves after a PETA boycott publicized the horrors of fur farming in Chinese factories. ASOS, one of the UK’s largest fashion stores, has pledged to stop its sales of angora, and it now offers full refunds for consumers who purchased these products. Thank ASOS for opposing animal cruelty.

The footage released by PETA illustrated the atrocities of fur factories, where workers forcibly hold rabbits down and violently rip the fur from their bodies. This process, called live plucking, yields more capital because hand-plucked fur sells for over twice the amount of cut hair fetches. As a result of live plucking, the shocked and terrified rabbits live in pain and are entirely unable to protect themselves from external elements without the warmth of their fur.

Ben Williamson, a spokesperson for PETA who witnessed the farming, notes the rabbits are “forced to spend their entire miserable lives standing on the thin cage wires that constantly cut into their sensitive footpads, never having a chance to dig, jump or run around.” As long as fur is in demand, these animals will suffer from excruciating fur farming methods.

At present, stores that oppose cruelty help to reduce the demand for fur by advertising more chic and humane products. An ASOS spokesperson recently stated that “it is not acceptable for animals to suffer in the name of fashion or cosmetics.”By openly contesting real fur, these stores send the message that fashion should not be valued at the expense of animal well-being. This alone makes a big difference for animals worldwide.

Thank ASOS for pulling angora products from the shelves, and for voicing its opposition to rabbit cruelty.

Dear CEO of ASOS, Nick Robertson,

I would like to sincerely thank you for pulling angora products from your shelves. Your support for animal welfare is honorable and already has worldwide impacts. As a popular retail store, customers value the things that you market. By rejecting inhumane products, like angora fur, you are sending a global message that animal cruelty is not okay.

Your decision will inspire other organizations to follow suit and can have a lasting impact on the lives of millions of animals that are abused by fur farming factories all over the world. I commend you for this.

  1. Stop definately this torture on angora bunnies.

  2. I hope that store keeps its promise to not put fur ever again! Its very heartbreaking what these innocent animals go through! Imagine!!

  3. I don’t understand these disgusting people that work at these factories/ farms whatever the hell you call it. How can anyone be so cruel & heartless to something alive w a soul like they are to these bunnies!

  4. The cruel Chinese strike again. There is nothing they won’t do to an animal in order to make money. Disgusting,

  5. Many thanks to ASOS for banning angora products. I shall continue to shop there. As for the cruel Chinese, I have e-mailed the Chinese embassy in London, to a few different departments and have yet to receive a single reply. They are not interested in anything we say and will not stop torturing and killing animals as long as they make money. We should not be surprised at the way they treat animals when we all know how badly they treat their people.

  6. If you haven’t seen the video, it’s horrifying. The bunny screams as hair is ripped out of it’s entire body, & the man doing it is very fast & experienced. Please pass this info on to anyone you can to get more people to demand this is stopped! It’s unbelievably heartless! PLEASE SEND THIS ON & STOP THIS HORROR! >>>

  7. Sheila Jefferson says:

    Thank you!!! 🙂

  8. Sick, disgusting people!

  9. The poor rabbits are tortured. It haunts me the suffering they endure. How a human being can inflict such pain and feel nothing about it is disgusting and embarrassing. I hope the torturers die slow, painful deaths. They are evil, barbaric scumbags.
