Commend Actor for Working Against Animal Testing

Norman Reedus

Target: Norman Reedus, actor on AMC’s “Walking Dead”

Goal: Commend actor for using his influence as a public figure to urge a ban on animal testing for cosmetics.

Norman Reedus is offering his public support of the animal rights group Cruelty Free International in their efforts to introduce a federal ban on cruel animal testing for cosmetics. Mr. Reedus, an acclaimed actor and potentially influential figure, deserves thanks for using his celebrity status as a platform to do good.

Mr. Reedus recently issued a public statement criticizing the United States for falling behind in global measures to prevent cruelty in laboratory testing. Highlighting the many countries that have taken steps to protect helpless animals used in laboratory testing for cosmetics, he urged the U.S. to follow suit and eliminate an outdated and cruel practice.

Mr. Reedus is supporting a truly worthy cause; the use of animals in laboratory testing for cosmetics has persisted for decades, and employs painful methods of study that have actually been rendered obsolete by modern methods that are cheaper and kinder. The transition to these modern methods has been slow due to industry inertia, so legal action is necessary to complete this transition. Cruelty Free International is leading the effort to implement a ban against cruel testing methods.

An avid advocate for vegetarianism as well, Mr. Reedus is known for remarking on his love for animals during interviews, and his latest call to action could be a tremendous step in the right direction. Mr. Reedus should be commended for speaking out on behalf of animal welfare.

Dear Norman Reedus,

You’ve recently offered your support of the animal rights group Cruelty Free International, and spoken out with them against cruel and outdated methods of animal testing. This has gained significant media coverage, and drawn the public’s attention to a cause worth fighting for. With your advocacy, this movement has gained momentum and credibility, and perhaps Cruelty Free International will be better equipped to make demands from the government with the support of public figures such as yourself.

Your willingness to use your voice and influence to encourage the public to join forces to demand a ban against these practices is an enormous boon to this particular cause, and to the animal rights movement as a whole.

Thank you for your dedication and your contribution to progress. Thank you for setting an example of kindness for your fans and for the broader public. Please continue to offer your support for the animal rights movement, and to speak out against atrocities against helpless creatures.
