Goal: Demand the maximum penalty for the man who allegedly abandoned multiple animals in a building without electricity, food, or water, leading to some of their deaths.
Multiple dogs and birds were reportedly abandoned in a building without access to food, water, or electricity. Many of them died and those still alive were reportedly severely malnourished. Demand justice for these innocent animals.
Deputies with the Alexander County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of abandoned animals at a building rented by a dog trainer. What they found inside was shocking. One dead dog lay at the entrance to the padlocked building. Inside, they found five malnourished dogs and another dead dog. The bodies of a white cockatoo and another dog were found in a freezer and nine quail had died in an outside pen.
Deputies charged Matthew Leeth with 19 counts of cruelty to animals and 19 counts of misdemeanor abandonment of animals. Sign below and demand that Leeth receive the maximum penalty by law, if convicted.
Dear District Attorney Kirkman,
Over 19 dogs and birds suffered tremendously when were reportedly abandoned and starved. The animals were reportedly found in a building rented by a dog trainer. We demand justice for these innocent animals.
There is no telling how long these animals suffered, but they were reportedly without electricity for at least a few weeks. The animals found alive, including two dogs in a pop-up camper, were dangerously malnourished. An African grey bird was also reportedly found in a cage with no access to food or water.
This horrific crime cannot go unpunished. We demand that you seek the maximum penalty in this case.
