Justice for Dog Found Severely Injured and Malnourished

Target: Marjorie Fox, District Attorney for Greene County, Pennsylvania

Goal: Seek a ban on animal ownership for the man accused of denying a dog with serious injuries much-needed veterinary care.

A man is facing animal cruelty charges for allegedly neglecting his dog and denying it veterinary care. Cody Rush of Nemacolin, Pennsylvania, is accused of denying his dog food and water and allowing it to walk around with severe injuries on its legs. The German short-haired pointer, named Gunner, was rescued from Rush’s custody.

Police found the dog after responding to a neighbor’s complaint that the dog was seen walking around the streets injured. Authorities found that the dog’s plastic lead was likely tied around his hind legs for up to five days. The dog’s legs were raw and swollen, with tissue, muscle, and bone visible. The dog was unable to walk on his back right leg.

It was also found that the dog was malnourished. His ribs were visible and there was no evidence of food or water being left out for him. Rush was charged with three counts of cruelty to animals as well as five summary violations related to the incident. A warrant has been filed for his arrest.

Fortunately, Gunner was able to be rehabilitated and has already been adopted by a new family. In order to ensure that no more animals face this horrific treatment at the hands of this alleged abuser, it’s important that Mr. Rush is punished to the fullest extent of the law, if convicted. Sign below to ask the prosecutor to seek the maximum punishment as well as a ban on animal ownership.

  1. How pathetic! Pennsylvania in the news again for animal abuse! People know they can do anything and get away with it. The Amish can beat horses to death and walk with away with a small fine. So glad I don’t live in Pennsylvania. Feel so bad for the animals in their puppy mills, the torture and cruelty inflicted on animals with no justice. This guy will walk with a warning – disgusting.
