Support Criminalizing Bestiality

Target: Denmark Minister of Food and Agriculture Dan Jorgensen

Goal: Applaud effort to banish the cruel and disgusting practice of bestiality

Denmark has finally introduced a bill that will ban sex with animals. This long-awaited decision was recently made because the reputation of the country was in jeopardy after the increase in animal sex tourism, and Denmark was even seeing a rise in animal brothels. Food and agriculture minister Dan Jorgensen adds that because an animal cannot consent to sex, it is therefore an attack on the animal and should not be allowed. The bill is set to be introduced in 2015 and has strong support.

It may be difficult to imagine what an animal brothel is. To many, it is common sense that one does not engage in sexual activity with one’s dog, cat, goat, or any other animal, much less trade money for it. Unfortunately, bestiality has been widely accepted in many countries, such as France, Germany, Belgium, and Holland, until the last ten years. This disgusting misuse of innocent creatures must be put to a stop completely. It should be considered a crime worldwide.

Today, the crime of bestiality is more widespread than many people are aware of. In Mexico, Brazil, Greenland, Russia, Japan, and many parts of Southern Asia, it is legal to have sex with animals. Australia and the United States leave the decision to individual states, which allows the countries to shirk the responsibility of making the abhorrent act illegal.

Thank Denmark’s food and agriculture minister Dan Jorgensen for setting an example for the rest of the world by working to ban sex with animals and recognizing the atrocious act as a serious crime. The law will give animals a voice, and will set them free from the sexual threat they have long been exposed to.

Dear Minister Jorgensen,

Thank you for advocating to make sex with animals illegal and taking this important step toward animal welfare. The example you are setting in Denmark will open eyes around the world to what is happening to these animals in other places and hopefully put an end to it.

Through your willingness to see these crimes in their true light, you have given safe haven to many formerly abused creatures. You are to be commended for taking actions to stop this horrific abuse.
