Dismiss Inspector who Ignored Animal Abuse

Target: Dr. Bruce Archibald, President of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency

Goal: Demand the suspension or termination of government inspector who disregarded blatant animal abuse

An undercover investigation into the abuse of animals at a hog facility recently revealed employees kicking, shocking, and clubbing pigs. Even more shockingly, the investigation uncovered evidence of blatant complicity on the part of a government inspector, who not only allowed the abuse to continue, but even provided employees with an electric prod to use on the pigs.

In a video released by Mercy for Animals, workers at the Western Hog Exchange in Red Deer, Alberta were seen beating hogs that were sick, injured, or unable to move with bats while a Canadian Food Inspection Agency agent stood watch. In the video, the agent clearly recognizes the abuse, stating, “If anybody has a camera, this will be on the Internet.”

Each week, 40,000 live animals pass through Western Hog Exchange, a transport hub from which most of the animals continue to slaughterhouses. According to the Company’s chairman, Brent Moen, the employees seen participating in the cruelty have been fired, and an independent, third-party contractor has been hired to conduct an investigation. In addition, another inquiry is being conducted by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

While the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) says it has begun an investigation, they have not yet suspended or terminated the inspector in question. In the meantime, it is possible that the inspector is displaying the same disregard for his duty that he displayed previously. In order to ensure that CFIA inspections are effective in preventing cruelty to animals, it is imperative that the inspector is suspended from his position pending disciplinary action. Sign the petition below to demand that this negligent and incompetent inspector is suspended during the investigation.

Dear Dr. Archibald,

Evidence from a recent investigation showed a government inspector watching and allowing the beating of pigs by employees at Western Hog Exchange. At one point, the inspector is seen passing an electric prod to the employees as well as admitting recognition of egregious breaches of Canadian animal protection laws.

While the CFIA has launched an investigation, there is potential that the inspector will continue to allow abuses in other facilities until a conclusion is reached. I demand that, while the investigation is pending, the inspector is suspended from his duties, and that if the investigation finds guilt, further measures are taken, including dismissal.

  1. Past time to fire this dumb ass moron. Take him out and put a bullet in his head. Sorry asshole.

  2. This inspector’s job is to protect and enforce Canadian laws and standards of practise.
What he has done not only is it clearly against his job description and role but is illegal. What this inspector has done is encourage and promote illegal activity not enforce laws. If the government thinks it is acceptable that its own employees ignore law and promote abuse then there is something very wrong with Canadian government. The employees who abused the pigs were fired and hopefully cruelty prosecutions pending, but a government inspector who is in a position of power who encouraged and supported animal cruelty it is still working? Its disgraceful! Why has he not been stepped down while investigation and charges filed.

So folks, if you really want to protest, boycott all pork products including bacon. This is how to stop the cruelty. Insist on ethical farming.
To continue to eat these poor animals is the worst form of hypocrisy.

Abuse is the ultimate betrayal towards any living soul and absolutely heartbreaking all the way around. You simply can not do such a horrific thing without it killing the best in you. Period. But in case there are any out there who couldn’t care less about torturing animals – which says a lot about you, as well – then think on this: If you find people happily willing to hurt an animal in any way, they are actually finding a venue to act out their deepest, most inner evil fantasies of twisted sickness. There’s nothing more revolting than that. Aside from this, it has been proven over and over again that people who have horrid intents with animals, get bored with them soon enough, ultimately leading them to bigger prey, moving up to people, in order to re-ignite and enhance the excitement that the torturing of animals used to provide. It’s simply never enough. And do not forget, these horrendous monsters also end up raising their children in “the game”, breeding evil, little sickos to continue on “the trade”… no doubt causing abuse in every level of their lives, as well. It’s just a revolting cycle that will never end until someone gets into it and breaks the heart-wrenching pattern. So, even if an animal is not of your utmost concern, then note that it will not stop there. It is just a start. And it is just a matter of time.

FRANCIS OF ASSISI; “Never, never be afraid to do what’s right, especially if the well-being of a person or animal is at stake. Society’s punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our soul when we look the other way.” – MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.; “I hope to make people realize how totally helpless animals are, how dependent on us, trusting as a child must that we will be kind and take care of their needs… (They) are an obligation put on us, a responsibility we have no rights to neglect, nor to violate by cruelty….” – JAMES HARRIOT; “The greatness of a nation & its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated” – MAHATMA GANDHI

Met lots of hog farmers when law enforcement. I disliked every one of them. Strange, they were all convicted of same offense: pedophilia.

  7. This inspector should be checked out for being on the take – BRIBERY – investigate his bank accounts and whether or not he is living beyond his means!

  8. Who appointed such an “inspector” in the first place? Can’t have been the right people either!

  9. Cecily Colloby says:

Well said, Rita Campbell. The only way to end this cruelty is for the human race to stop eating these innocent animals who were NOT put here for us to eat!!This so called inspector should be sacked and charged with cruelty. As Lee says, take him out and put a bullet in his head-another useless moron out of the way.

  10. The CFIA is another useless organization, designed mainly to cover up and ignore abuses within this whole, sickening industry. (just look at the horse slaughter cases to date) They’ve been caught BEFORE, several times, not upholding their stated mandate. Therefore, any ‘investigations’ BY them, done internally, are also useless. This employee of theirs not only must lose his job, but ALSO be charged with being complicit in animal abuse and torture under both the Provinical AND Federal animal abuse laws…for what little THEY’RE worth as well. As Rita Campbell said, the core way to stop all this s**t is so just STOP EATING ANIMALS…AND stop using their co-products as well, e.g. dairy.
