Target: U.S. President Donald Trump
Goal: Don’t make it legal for people to cruelly murder innocent wildlife on federal land.
Hunters would be allowed to use inhumane tactics to murder unsuspecting animals and their families if a new bill becomes law. Demand President Trump strike down this repulsive bill and stand up for wildlife.
The bill, S.J.Res.18, was introduced by U.S. House Representative Don Young, a republican from Arkansas. It would allow hunters to kill bear and wolf mothers with their cubs and pups as they’re hibernating peacefully in their dens, and to use food to lure grizzly bears close enough that the hunters can shoot the bears at point-blank range (generally referred to as close as four feet).
In addition to these horrific injustices, hunters would be allowed to shoot bears from planes and use steel-jawed leghold traps as well as wire snares to trap and kill the animals. Four million animals die in traps every year, and if this bill passes then even more animals will die heartless deaths.
Killing animals for fun is already sickening as it is, but legalizing these new forms of hunting takes it to a barbaric level. Demand that President Trump reject this bill and protect innocent wildlife from this cruelty.
Dear President Trump,
A bill passed in the Senate that would allow hunters to use disgustingly cruel methods to murder animals in the wild. It’s bad enough that people are allowed to shoot bears, but this bill would allow hunters to shoot mother bears when they’re hibernating with their babies.
To make it even more unfair, hunters would also be allowed to shoot bears from planes sniper style and to use steel traps to snare and hurt them. I demand you reject this bill and take steps to ensure animals are not treated with such cruelty.
