Target: Jeanne O’Grady Goldschmidt, Executive Director of Pasadena Convention Center
Goal: Cancel plans with the cruel Carson & Barnes Circus.
Carson & Barnes Circus is a traveling show that has an extensive history of animal abuse. The show is currently traveling with a few elephants it keeps in small cages while it carts them around from city to city all over the U.S.
Carson & Barnes Circus has more than 100 violations against the Animal Welfare Act. Some of these violations include failing to provide proper veterinary care, water, shelter and adequate space. The circus has also been in the hot seat for endangering the public. In 2016, a few elephants got scared, escaped and were running in the streets for about an hour. In addition, video footage has surfaced of one of Carson & Barnes’ trainers allegedly repeatedly hitting an elephant with a bullhook and shocking him with an electric prod.
Sign this petition and demand the Pasadena Convention Center cancel its plans with this cruel circus. No animal should be abused and exploited for human entertainment.
Dear Ms. Goldschmidt,
The Pasadena Convention Center currently has plans to host Carson & Barnes Circus despite its extensive history of animal abuse. It is time to stop supporting such a cruel form of entertainment.
Carson & Barnes Circus has over 100 violations with the USDA in regards to the Animal Welfare Act. These violations include, but are not limited to, failing to provide adequate shelter, clean water, enough space and proper veterinary care. In addition, a few elephants escaped and were running in the streets for about an hour. As if that wasn’t enough, video footage has surfaced of one of Carson & Barnes’ long-time trainers reportedly beating an elephant with a bullhook and shocking him with an electric prod.
Animals experience fear and pain, just like you and me. It is cruel to turn a blind eye to the abuse happening behind the scenes. Please consider canceling your plans with this cruel circus. These animals belong in the wild, not in loud, crowded arenas.
