Demand Venue Cancel Cruel Bear Show

Target: Joe Dooling, Chairman of Lewis & Clark County Fairgrounds

Goal: Cancel plans with The Great Bear Show.

The Great Bear Show is a traveling “educational” show, however it is notorious for its alleged abuse and neglect toward its bears. Unfortunately, Lewis & Clark County Fairgrounds is planning on hosting this show despite its reputation.

The show is run by Bob Steele, who has been cited by the USDA multiple times. He has been cited for denying veterinary care and for mishandling the bears, which put animals and people in danger. In addition, the show travels with an arthritic bear who is often kept in concrete enclosures. Concrete often makes arthritic pain even worse.

Sign this petition and demand Lewis & Clark County Fairgrounds cancel its plans with this cruel company. Bears belong in the wild, not in cages and loud arenas.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Dooling,

Your fairgrounds currently has plans to host The Great Bear Show. Although the show claims to be educational, The Great Bear Show is known for its alleged abuse and exploitation of bears.

The show is run by Bob Steele, who has been cited multiple times by the USDA for not providing veterinary care when the animals needed it most and for mishandling the bears. The mishandling of the bears not only put animals in danger, but also people. In addition, the show travels with an arthritic bear who is often kept in concrete enclosures, which only makes his pain worse.

Please consider canceling your plans with The Great Bear Show. It is clear this company lacks respect and responsibility. These animals belong in the wild, surrounded by friends and sunshine, not in loud, crowded arenas for a few moments of human entertainment.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

What century are they living in? I thought that sort of backward ” entertainment” was long gone.
Put an end to this scandalous behaviour NOW.

  3. Rosslyn Osborne says:

Cruelty; archaic; torture; sadness; depression; agony and loneliness, are just a very few words that come to mind whilst reading this petition… Please cancel this ‘show’ and ask Bob to allow his bears to serve the remainder of their lives in an accredited sanctuary.
That would be the very best educational lesson and outcome for all involved. Thank you.

  4. “So many people insist they are against animal abuse, cruelty, suffering and the inhumane treatment of animals, yet they don’t understand they are actively engaging in and supporting egregious suffering, abuse, cruelty and inhumane treatment when they eat animals and their ‘by-products.’ If you are against cruelty, suffering and inhumane treatment, then you go vegan. It’s just that simple.” – Sarah Kiser
