Justice for Dog Dead After Being Left in Hot Car

Target: Lynn Bradshaw, President of the Western Australia RSPCA

Goal: Punish person who left a dog in a hot car, leading to its death.

A dog is dead after being left in a hot car on a 42 degree day. Witnesses say that the car was parked near a beach and the car’s owner was nowhere to be found. An animal cruelty investigation has been launched by the Western Australia branch of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA).

A horrified witness took notice of the scene when she saw a group of three people smash a car window and pull the exhausted animal out. They poured water on the dog and tried to fan it, but the animal was so weak that it couldn’t hold up its own head. It succumbed to heat exhaustion shortly afterward.

This case comes only a few short weeks after an RSPCA campaign reminded pet owners not to leave their animals in hot cars. According to experts, it only takes a few short minutes for animals to begin to overheat. Not only do owners that do this risk the health and lives of their animals, but they risk criminal animal cruelty charges.

This death was completely unnecessary. The dog’s owner could have taken the animal outside to the beach with them, or even simply left the dog at home. Because of this apparent carelessness, an innocent animal has died. Sign below to demand that the person who left this dog to perish in the heat is punished to the fullest extent of the law.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mrs. Bradshaw,

A dog is dead after being left in a car on a 42 degree day. Alarmed witnesses broke into the car and were able to pull the animal out and douse it with water. The dog was in such poor condition that it was unable to hold its head up. Despite the best efforts of concerned bystanders, the poor dog succumbed to heat exhaustion shortly after being pulled from the vehicle.

This death comes only weeks after the RSPCA renewed its call to pet owners to ensure that no animals are left in vehicles on hot days like these. This apparent carelessness and negligence has resulted in the death of an innocent animal and trauma for several bystanders. We, the undersigned, ask that you work hard to find and severely punish the person responsible for this cruel act.

Sincerely,
