Save Elephants From Slaughter in Vietnam

Target: Truong Tan Sang, President of Vietnam

Goal: Urge Vietnam to protect its critically endangered elephants

Vietnam’s Elephants are on the verge of extinction. A combination of weak environmental laws, high poaching rates, and other related conflicts has nearly wiped these animals out. A conservation group called the World WildLife Fund has looked into the issue to try and save the elephants, but the situation may be too far gone. The group is making an effort and raising awareness for the elephants, but it will take a lot of work to bring them back from the brink of extinction.

Vietnam has not been very diligent in terms of animal conservation. It has made a few commitments, like setting up protected areas for the elephants, but the plans that were implemented to help the elephants were ineffective and unsuccessful.

The situation is dire, but there may yet be hope: If officials in Vietnam gather together all of these elephants and provide them with the care they desperately need, then it is possible for their population to bounce back. Urge the president of Vietnam to help save his country’s elephants from extinction.

Dear President Truong Tan Sang,

Vietnam is a beautiful country with its abundant agricultural grasslands, but one member of the animal world is suffering in your country. Unfortunately, the elephant population in Vietnam is on the verge of extinction. We ask you to help the elephants by introducing new laws to protect them. The current laws and regulations are not being implemented in the most effective way. There needs to be a safe place for all of the elephants because the areas in which they live are being taken over by food plantations. If this happens, then there is a good chance that they will be taken off of the extinction list.

As the president of Vietnam, please help us save these elephants. They are smart and beautiful animals that need our help to survive.

  1. Julie van Niekerk says:

Asians have a different mindset on animals. The huge problem is that the conscience is exstinct.

  2. I am so tired of how humans cruely treat animals, I and others are here to have a voice for them.

  3. Arlene Zimmer says:

Animals are so tolerant and understanding. We humans should shut-up and listen. We think we’re the “hottest” critter on this planet. Far from it! We have so much to learn from them. Perhaps then, we will learn to stop killing them and our own, as well!
