Commend Partnership for Helping Homeless Dogs

Dog Shelter

Target: Everett Croxson, Executive Director of Foreclosed Upon Pets International (FUPI)

Goal: Commend a Las Vegas charity and a Canadian pet store for providing hundreds of stray dogs with homes

A program between Canadian pet store Petcetera and charity group Foreclosed Upon Pets International (FUPI) has provided one thousand dogs in Las Vegas with new homes. With an adoption fee of $500, the dogs are airlifted from Las Vegas, where they are then spayed or neutered and given their immunizations. The program so far is a success, as eight to sixteen dogs are taken to new homes each week.

Foreclosed Upon Pets International was started by Everett Croxson, as a charity to find homes for dogs that were left behind when their families’ homes were foreclosed on. Holly Marquardt, a Las Vegas real estate agent, spoke of finding eighteen dead cats and dogs in foreclosed homes within the past three years. The pets also find their way into Las Vegas’ Lied Animal Shelter, which is the highest volume shelter in the nation, taking up to 115 cats and dogs each day. Las Vegas’ problem with surplus dogs prompted Everett to create FUPI in 2008, and the partnership with Petcetera allowed Canadians to adopt these dogs.

According to Everett, the situation in Canada is very different from US cities like Las Vegas. The nation has a dog shortage, and strict restrictions require owners to spay and neuter their pets. However with a stronger economy than the United States, the demand for dogs is strong. FUPI formed a partnership with executive vice president of Petcetera, Richard Kaga. FUPI agreed to fly dogs up to Vancouver, and Petcetera would house them for adoption in one of their eighteen stores.

This partnership between a charity and a pet store has allowed one thousand dogs to find new homes, and hopefully more dogs will be adopted out through this program in the future. This commitment to animals and their well being should be commended. Sign this petition and thank Everett Croxson for his compassion.

Dear Everett Croxson,

I am writing this letter to express my thanks and gratitude towards your organization, Foreclosed Upon Pets International. With one thousand dogs sent to new and loving homes in Canada, I am astounded at your compassion and efforts. With the difficulties your organization must have faced during start up, I am thankful you continued to push on and find these dogs new homes.

I have no doubt in my mind that these dogs are thanking you for giving them a second chance at life. I hope you will continue to strive towards giving dogs and cats new homes, and I wish your organization the best of luck.

    Thank you! 😉

  2. Heather Little says:

Who told Everett Croxson that Canada has a dog shortage ? We have just as many overflowing shelters as the US has, a high euthanasia rate at these shelters and a problem with abandoned and stray dogs as well. The situation is worse for cats. There are also no regulations requiring us to spay/neuter either, like everywhere else its a choice.

  3. Spay / neuter people!!!!! & adopt dont ever shop while so many animals die & are waiting for homes!
