Target: R.J. Larizza, State’s Attorney for Ormond Beach, Florida
Goal: Bring animal cruelty charges against the man who allegedly shot a cat with a BB gun because it defecated in his yard.
A cat was shot with a BB gun, reportedly because it defecated in a neighbor’s yard. It had to be euthanized due to the extent of its injuries. A man has come forward and stated that he was only trying to scare the cat, not hurt it. Demand that justice is served for this innocent cat.
“It was the most saddest thing to see a little animal, literally tears running down its face,” stated Heidi Hatheaway, a concerned neighbor. She and her son found the cat under her trailer, paralyzed from its injuries. The man, currently unnamed, stated that he shot at the cat because it “looked at him like he owned the place” before defecating on his property. He has reportedly shot at cats before and claimed that he did not know that this cat was someone’s pet.
The man has not yet been charged. If he is charged with animal cruelty, then he could face a felony conviction. Sign below and demand that the state’s attorney pursue animal cruelty charges in this case.
Dear State’s Attorney Larizza,
A cat was shot with a BB gun, leading to its death. Deputies have a suspect, but he has not yet been charged. We demand that justice is served for this innocent animal.
Heidi Hatheaway, a resident of the Pinewood Trailer Park in Ormond Beach stated, “If he’s not accurate of how he shoots, what’s to stop him from shooting anybody?” She and other neighbors mourned the loss of the cat, which belonged to a 60-year-old resident of the community. The cat reportedly defecated in a neighbor’s yard, prompting the attack.
Animal cruelty is a serious crime and must be treated as such. We demand that you pursue animal cruelty charges in this case.
