Target: Eddie Cathey, Sheriff of Union County
Goal: Find the person or people responsible for slaughtering seven dogs and abandoning them.
Seven deceased dogs were found on a road in Union County, North Carolina, each with a gunshot wound to the head and a broken neck. Local rescue group Pawsitive Impact Dog Rescue NC took the dogs’ bodies to a veterinarian, who confirmed their cause of death. They were believed to have been former hunting dogs. According to commentators on Pawsitive Impact’s Facebook page, it is all too common for hunting dogs to be treated so cruelly and thoughtlessly when they are considered no longer useful.
Unable to find microchips on any of the dogs, local law enforcement has reached out to the community in the hopes that someone will recognize them. However, it is possible that without a lead, these dogs may never see justice and the person or persons responsible for their deaths may subject more animals to unthinkable cruelty. Ask that the Union County Sheriff do everything in his power to ensure this does not happen.
Dear Sheriff Cathey,
As a concerned citizen and animal lover, I must implore the Union County Sheriff’s Office to do everything in its power to find justice for the seven slain dogs recently found on the side of Morgan Academy Road. In systematically executing seven innocent dogs and then discarding them like garbage on the side of a road, the person or persons responsible clearly demonstrated a dangerous disregard for the sanctity of life. They must be found and held fully accountable for their crime before they can inflict further cruelty on animals or humans.
