Target: Thomas J. Spota, District Attorney for Suffolk County, New York
Goal: Demand the maximum penalty for the woman who allegedly starved six dogs, leading to the death of one.
Six malnourished dogs were discovered in a Long Island yard. One of them died and had reportedly been decomposing for at least a week. Demand justice for these innocent dogs.
“I have been doing rescue and community outreach for many years and have never seen such disregard for living creatures,” stated Linda Klampfl of the Almost Home Animal Rescue. Volunteers from the rescue followed a malnourished dog to Veleda Bailey’s home, where they discovered two other malnourished dogs and three puppies. One dog had died and was reportedly in the process of decomposing.
Bailey has been charged with aggravated animal cruelty and other related crimes. She pled not guilty. The surviving dogs were treated for malnourishment and dehydration. They have since been put up for adoption. Sign below and demand that this woman receive the maximum penalty, if found guilty.
Dear District Attorney Spota,
Six dogs were allegedly neglected and starved, leading to the death of one. Their owner reportedly had not fed them in at least two weeks. We demand justice for these innocent dogs.
“They were barbecuing hamburgers while the animals were being removed,” stated Klampfl, an animal rescue volunteer who took the surviving dogs into her custody. Bailey’s children were also reportedly playing with one dog’s decomposing body. Bailey’s public defender reported that she has six kids and did not have the money to feed the dogs.
There is no excuse for this horrific neglect. We demand that you seek the maximum penalty in this case.
