Target: Centerplate Chairman Joe O’Donnell
Goal: Praise board of directors for not tolerating animal abuse
A previous ForceChange petition demanded punishment for Desmond Hague, the former CEO of Centerplate, who was caught on surveillance video abusing a harmless puppy named Sade. Now, Centerplate’s board of directors has announced that Desmond Hague has resigned and will be replaced. Praise the company for acting quickly to dispose of the former CEO.
The video taken from a hotel showed Hague kicking Sade several times out of frustration as she cowers in the corner of the elevator. When the doors open, he hauls her by the leash and drags her outside. Since the video’s release, it has caused widespread outrage on social media, with many users demanding Provincial Crown Corporation to drop their contracts with Centerplate.
Joe O’Donnell, the chairman of the board of directors for Centerplate, stated, “We want to reiterate that we do not condone nor would we ever overlook the abuse of animals.” He goes on to apologize to everyone who has been distressed by the situation and thanks employees, clients, and guests for voicing their anger over the incident.
As for Desmond Hague, he has agreed to attend counseling to treat his anger management issues and has publicly apologized for his behavior. He has stated that he had “lost control of [his] emotional response” and lashed out at the puppy, who belonged to a family friend.
Please sign this petition to praise Centerplate’s board of directors for not allowing Desmond Hague to get away with animal abuse.
Dear Chairman O’Donnell,
Thank you for acting swiftly when your former CEO, Desmond Hague, abused an innocent puppy in your company’s elevator. After hundreds of thousands of signatures were collected from petitions throughout the internet, Hague has finally resigned from his post.
Animal abuse should not be tolerated anywhere, so I thank you for protecting and standing by animals. Many acts of animal cruelty are not documented by video to use as evidence, but I still hope that Hague’s case will be a lesson for all abusers who think that their actions will go unpunished. Humans have a responsibility to be kind to the animals within their care, who rely on them and trust them. I also hope that Sade will recover from this traumatic experience and be able to live peacefully from now on.
