Nicole Ricci contacted the Pawtucket Police Department after she came home to find her cat, Baby Girl, acting strangely. Veterinarians determined that Baby Girl had suffered broken ribs, punctured lungs, and infections indicating internal injuries. “One of the veterinarian [sic] equates it almost to being struck by a motor vehicle, like with that significant amount of trauma,” said SPCA Special Agent Joseph Warzycha. The injuries were reportedly human-inflicted.
Authorities arrested Scott Baptista, Ricci’s boyfriend, and charged him with malicious injury to or killing of an animal. Sign below and demand that he faces the maximum penalty in this case.
Dear Attorney General Kilmartin,
A woman came home to find her cat disoriented and seriously injured. Authorities have charged her boyfriend, Scott Baptista, with malicious injury to or killing of an animal. We demand that justice is served for this innocent cat.
“I just knew something was wrong. And I’m like, ‘What did you do to her?’ And he just — he stopped answering,” stated Nicole Ricci. Ricci had left her three cats home with her boyfriend earlier in the day. When she returned, one cat had suffered broken ribs and punctured lungs consistent with abuse by a human. The cat had to be euthanized due to the extent of her injuries.
This horrific crime cannot go unpunished. We demand that you seek the maximum penalty in this case.
