Target: Peter Lockhart, Owner of Fife Animal Park
Goal: Scorn zoo owner for not taking care of his animals
Fife Animal Park in Cupar, Scotland has been closed down over disturbing allegations of animal cruelty against its owner, Peter Lockhart. He is accused of neglecting to properly care for the animals, of purchasing animals without permission, of not providing proper bedding, and of refusing to supply animals with a varied diet. Denounce Lockhart for purchasing animals illegally and allowing them to suffer without adequate care.
The number of allegations against Peter Lockhart is astounding. Lockhart is accused of not providing the animals with a “suitable, clean, and well-ventilated environment” between the months of January 2013 through February 2014. This is an inordinate amount of time for an animal to live uncomfortably. In addition, Lockhart illegally purchased lemurs, tortoises, marmosets, and wildcats, while also trying to sell three Hermann’s tortoises at the park. He also identified a zebra he purchased as a horse using fake passports. This is extremely unprofessional and unethical. It is obvious that this man does not care for the welfare of his animals, and simply wants to make a profit.
The allegations do not stop there. He is accused of not providing animals with proper bedding or an adequate diet. He has allowed his animals to get sick and become malnourished. He did not seek medical attention for an emu suffering from a beak ulcer, and he faces further charges of illegally purchasing animals for profit: two ring-tailed lemurs, one red-ruffed lemur, two black and white-ruffed lemurs, five Swinhoe’s pheasants, a barn owl, an eagle owl, two wildcats, and many more. Lockhart currently faces 50 charges of animal cruelty.
As the owner of a zoo, Peter Lockhart should have cared first and foremost about his animals. Obviously, he cared more about profits than the animals’ wellbeing. This man should be scorned for his actions, as animals are suffering as a result of his neglect, and it is unclear what is going to be done with them.
Dear Peter Lockhart,
It amazes and infuriates me that you were so willing to let the animals at your zoo suffer while you made money off of them. You stand accused of 50 animal cruelty charges, and I cannot fathom how you could let these animals suffer in such horrible conditions.
As a zoo owner, your first priority should always be good treatment of animals under your care. I expect more from you. You should know not to illegally purchase animals. Sales such as these feed into the illegal wildlife trade, which is well known for its brutal and inhumane treatment of animals. Your should not be encouraging this kind of operation.
I hope you are duly punished for your misdeeds, as animals should not be treated like objects to be bought and sold solely for profit. I also hope that your zoo animals will receive the proper medical care that you never provided them.
