Target: Kathleen Teresa Ganley, Minister of Justice for Alberta, Canada

Goal: Demand the maximum penalty for the person who locked a dog and cat in a storage locker and taped the cat’s mouth shut.

A dog and cat were found trapped inside of a storage locker. The cat had tape over its head and face and both of the animals were confined to cages. Demand justice for these innocent animals.

Calgary Police were called to a local storage facility after muffled animal sounds were heard coming from one of the lockers. Inside, police found a dog trapped in a kennel and a cat confined to a travel cage with tape over its head and face. The animals were taken to a veterinary clinic, where the tape was removed.

Calgary Police and the Calgary Humane Society are investigating, but they do not yet have a suspect. The Calgary Humane Society took the animals into their custody. Sign below to demand the maximum penalty in this case.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Minister Ganley,

A dog and cat were found trapped in a storage locker. The cat had tape on its face and head. We demand justice for these innocent animals.

“The animals were located after officers gained entry into the storage locker. The dog was found in a kennel, among boxes that were in the storage locker. The cat was also found in a travel cage,” stated Det. Andy Nguyen. Per Calgary police, the owner of the storage locker has an outstanding warrant for an animal bylaw offense.

The person responsible for this horrific neglect must be punished. We demand that you seek the maximum penalty in this case.

Sincerely,

So the Calgary police have no suspects. Let me give them a clue WHO THE HELL RENTED THE STORAGE LOCKER? If the storage locker does not have a record of the person and does not require id to rent a unit shut them down. God only knows what may be hidden int the rest of the place. Canada I am ashamed of you and the Calgary Police Force. Get out of the doughnut shop and do some work.

    • Totally agree!!!!! Stupid cops there don’t give a flying fig about animal abuse cases for the most part.

And the Calgary HS had BETTER NOT kill that poor cat off, citing some lame excuse, when they just don’t want to spend the bucks needed for whatever medical help is required, like they SO often do, especially for cats!

      • D.M.: I’ve been aware of the fate of “rescued” cats for decades, and I’m so glad others know how horribly they’re treated. Deemed unadoptable due to stress. Cats don’t do well in shelters, especially after suffering abuse. Too many shelters take the easy way out.

The cruel owner must be apprehended and charged with animal cruelty. Please impose HARSH PUNISHMENT and do not allow him to own anymore animals in future forever.

  3. ELIANE BIOURD says:

APPARENTLY CANADA SEEMS NOT TO CARE SO MUCH ABOUT THEIR ANIMALS. THE FILM, ” A DOG’S PURPOSE ” ABOUT TO BE IN THEATRES WAS FILMED IN C-A-N-A-D-A AND THERE ARE ISSUES ABOUT THE TREATMENT OF THE GERMAN SHEPHERD [AB]USED IN THE FILM. THERE ARE PROTESTS BY ‘PETA’BECAUSE OF THIS AND PEOPLE HAVE BEEN URGED TO SEND THE MONEY THEY WOULD’VE SPENT ON A TICKET TO THEIR FAVORITE (ANIMAL) CHARITY. SO STEP UP CANADA AND DO THE RIGHT THING AND FIND THE ASSHAT THAT RENTED THE STORAGE UNIT LEAVING TWO ANIMALS TO DIE.

      Well said, Elaine!
I am APPALLED that the poor dog was abused like that, but I’m not surprised. Anything for a friggin’ buck!

We are NOT going to see the film, and now I’ll donate the price of our tickets to our local shelter. And that’s the next petition I’m signing.

  4. KatWrangler says:

NO suspects!?!?!?!?! Look at the rental agreement, and go from there. Don’t tell me Law Enforcement is THAT stupid (I looked for an alternative in my thesaurus, but stupid is as stupid does) Whoever did this is a sick, twisted POS!

Let’s hope The Calgary Humane Society doesn’t let this slide. These animals need to be rehabbed and re-homed. Too many “rescues” of cats, particularly, end with a needle in the arm, because they’re deemed unadoptable, due to trauma and stress.
Tape over your face and mouth would do that to any animal.

If that’s the case, I’ll take BOTH cat and dog. They deserve a loving home. We can give them that.

  5. Linda Barnett says:

Calgary Police need to do their job! There must be clues as to who rented the storage locker, as commented by others regarding this report. This monster must be found, tried and prosecuted for the despicable cruelty inflicted on these two innocent creatures. I hope that these two traumatized creatures make a full recovery from their dreadful ordeal and are homed with responsible loving and caring people very soon.
