Target: Logan Pickett, District Attorney for Liberty County, Texas

Goal: Prosecute the owners of a rescue facility where more than 150 animals were found in various stages of neglect.

More than 150 animals have been rescued from a supposed animal rescue facility, where they were found in poor condition. They allegedly lived in their own waste and suffered injuries related to neglect. Demand justice for these innocent animals.

“What we found today at this facility is unacceptable,” stated Tara Yurkshat, vice president of animal welfare at the Houston SPCA. Liberty County Sheriff’s deputies, along with SPCA investigators, responded to reports of animal cruelty at the Puppy-Dogs-R-Us shelter in Dayton. There, they report that they found over 150 animals living in their own waste without access to food or water. Some were found in rusty wire crates and others in flooded enclosures.

The Houston SPCA will be caring for the animals until permanent custody can be established. Liberty County has not yet decided if it will pursue criminal charges. Sign below to demand that the district attorney pursue criminal charges in this case.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear District Attorney Pickett,

Over 150 animals were found in deplorable conditions at a supposed animal rescue facility. Dogs, cats, and a horse were discovered living in filth. We demand justice for these innocent animals.

The animals found on the 20-acre property appeared to suffer from various degrees of neglect. Kennel enclosures were flooded, forcing some of the dogs to stand on top of the kennels to escape the murky water. Others were found in rusty wire cages stacked on top of each other in a dark shed. Many of the animals lacked access to food and water.

We demand that you pursue criminal charges against those deemed responsible for this horrific abuse.

Sincerely,

Forgot to mention, just how does a county turn their heads and even NOT consider filing charges. This seems to be a no brainer, if the rescue could not care for them, I am sure they have a cell phone to call for help. NO excuse to NOT file charges unless this county doesnt know how.

Thank goodness they have now been rescued. That’s so sad that they were rescued to then become neglected again. The shelter should be ashamed

  3. Sheila Menache says:

What are these animals being rescued from if this is how they are going to be treated. You the so-called rescuers have no right to come anywhere near any animal – this rescue centre needs to be investigated and closed

  5. Dog Mom to 5 says:

Bet these poor animals have been re-vaccinated and given more chemical crap that further ruins their health, minds and bodies. Most people in rescue are ignorant of this. Shame on all involved in allowing this to happen.

Please be strict with rescue facilities that do not follow animal welfare standard operating procedures. Protect these innocent beautiful kind harmless creatures.

  8. THANK YOU to the wonderful people who intervened & rescued these vulnerable animals — you are HEROES! — Crimes against animals MUST be taken seriously — there are way too many idiot-monsters loose in our world – — what’s worse, these merciless individuals were placed IN CHARGE of CARING for animals — Why is society allowing psychos to get away with these abuses !! — Who do these imbeciles think they are !! — this so-called “shelter staff” MUST be held accountable — mete out severe punishments OR whatever it takes to ensure they do NOT repeat their demented abuses — LENGTHY prison terms — along with hefty fines — we want NO repeats of abuse & death to animals, EVER !
