Target: Logan Pickett, District Attorney for Liberty County, Texas

Goal: Prosecute the owners of a rescue facility where more than 150 animals were found in various stages of neglect.

More than 150 animals have been rescued from a supposed animal rescue facility, where they were found in poor condition. They allegedly lived in their own waste and suffered injuries related to neglect. Demand justice for these innocent animals.

“What we found today at this facility is unacceptable,” stated Tara Yurkshat, vice president of animal welfare at the Houston SPCA. Liberty County Sheriff’s deputies, along with SPCA investigators, responded to reports of animal cruelty at the Puppy-Dogs-R-Us shelter in Dayton. There, they report that they found over 150 animals living in their own waste without access to food or water. Some were found in rusty wire crates and others in flooded enclosures.

The Houston SPCA will be caring for the animals until permanent custody can be established. Liberty County has not yet decided if it will pursue criminal charges. Sign below to demand that the district attorney pursue criminal charges in this case.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear District Attorney Pickett,

Over 150 animals were found in deplorable conditions at a supposed animal rescue facility. Dogs, cats, and a horse were discovered living in filth. We demand justice for these innocent animals.

The animals found on the 20-acre property appeared to suffer from various degrees of neglect. Kennel enclosures were flooded, forcing some of the dogs to stand on top of the kennels to escape the murky water. Others were found in rusty wire cages stacked on top of each other in a dark shed. Many of the animals lacked access to food and water.

We demand that you pursue criminal charges against those deemed responsible for this horrific abuse.

Sincerely,

  1. SI SON PERROS RESCATADOS, NO ENTIENDO POR QUÉ EL SER HUMANO VUELVE A COMETER LOS MISMOS ESTÚPIDOS ERRORES UNA Y OTRA VEZ. QUÉ TRISTEZA QUE UN CENTRO DE RESCATE SE CONVIERTA NUEVAMENTE EN UNA PRISIÓN DE MISERIA Y CRUELDAD!!!!

  2. Those involved in this animal abuse must be made an example of and that means ban them from ever having any animal or even being around them, fine them a huge amount(covers the housing and vetting of these animals) depending on the facts if they were at least trying or total neglect, Jail them…..this must stop…animal abuse must have severe consequences and that punishement mus be enforced.

  3. Margaret Melnick says:

Everyone involved including employee’s must be charged with animal abuse and ban from ever owning an animal. If they worked there they knew the conditions and if they did nothing (such as reporting conditions to authorities) they must be charged as they did nothing to prevent this cruel treatment.

  4. Cynthia Mattera says:

I will NEVER understand how a human being can neglect an animal. How hard is it to put down fresh water and food 2-3 times days and also provide a clean, safe environment???? Please prosecute to the fullest extent of the law. These people need to be held accountable!

  5. These pos need to have the same thing done to them as they did to these innocent animals what a sad world this is

  6. Barry A Yelen says:

If the allegations are true, how can the authorities even consider NOT prosecuting?!?!?!?

  7. Mongibello says:

    And who oversees the rescue?????

  8. Kimberly Beebe says:

Really Texas??? Can’t you be humane. Shame on you. Why do you keep getting in the papers about animal abuse? You all need empanthy classes.

  9. I CAN’T BELIEVE THAT THE COUNTY CANNOT DECIDE WHETHER TO PROSECUTE THESE MONSTERS OR NOT, WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THESE IDIOTS!!

  10. Nona VanDamme says:

court is on the 10th if this is a REAL 501c3 rescue this has to be against the mission of a rescue and hence NO MORE ANIMALS should be put with this place or the owners. I cant believe NO ONE knew this was going on>?? something wrong with Texas and speaking up for the animals. Every shelter is over full from over breeding, but this place looks like *ell. NO MORE pets for this rescue or for the folks involved. SHAME on anyone that knew this was going on. PUNISH all of them.
