Target: Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates
Goal: Thank the United Arab Emirates for banning exotic pets.
It has become exceedingly popular in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to own exotic pets like tigers, lions, apes and cheetahs. It is seen as a status symbol and something only the most elite can afford. Thankfully, that has all changed.
The UAE has now made it illegal to keep any exotic animal as a pet. If one is found guilty of illegally owning an exotic animal, they can face possible jail time and a fine that is equivalent to $136,000 USD. Exotic animals kept as pets face a variety of hardships and pose a threat to public safety. These incredible animals require unique environments, diets, and stimulation in order to thrive; Living as someone’s pet does not give them what they need in order to live a happy life.
Sign this petition and thank UAE for making it illegal to keep exotic animals as pets. Now these animals can be given the chance to thrive and not be imprisoned in a person’s home.
Dear President Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan,
Recently, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) made it illegal to own exotic animals as pets. This is a great step in the right direction, especially because the UAE is a popular hub in the exotic pet trade.
Now countless cheetahs, lions, tigers, and other exotic animals will no longer be subjected to life where they are denied everything that is natural to them. They will be able to live in their natural habitat, eat a proper diet, and roam and play as their hearts’ desire.
Thank you for making this bold decision and protecting countless animals from an unnatural, deprived life. I can only hope more countries follow in your footsteps.
