Target: Susan Hawk, District Attorney for Dallas County, Texas
Goal: Demand the maximum penalty for the woman who reportedly starved her dogs and horses, leading to the death of a dog.
A dog was found dead in a garage, reportedly starved to death. Two horses and another dog were also found on the property, all in poor condition. Demand justice for these innocent animals.
“It was very heartbreaking,” stated Staci Kimberlin, an investigator with the SPCA of Texas. She headed the investigation of Reyna Piña’s property after she received a report of two emaciated dogs. Kimberlin visited the property two times, issuing multiple warnings to Piña regarding her care of the animals. Her final visit revealed that one of the dogs, a pit bull, had died.
A necropsy confirmed that the pit bull had not consumed food in at least 48 hours. The three surviving animals are in the care of the SPCA. Piña has been charged with cruelty to non-livestock animals and faces up to two years in jail. Sign below and demand the maximum penalty in this case.
Dear District Attorney Hawk,
A woman reportedly starved her animals, leading to a dog’s death. She apparently received multiple warnings from the SPCA, but ignored them. We demand justice for these innocent animals.
Per veterinarian reports, each of the animals suffered considerably. The surviving dog, a red and white pit bull, had intestinal worms and was emaciated. The younger horse also had worms and its hooves were cracked. The older mare was thin and had a nail stuck in her foot, causing her significant pain.
This horrific abuse cannot be tolerated. We demand that you seek the maximum penalty in this case.
