Target: Stephen Hunter, CEO of Sunwing Travel Group

Goal: Stop Sunwing Travel Group from selling SeaWorld tickets and tours.

Sunwing Travel Group is the largest tour operator in all of North America, however the company continues to sell SeaWorld tickets and tours despite knowing the horrors that happen there daily.

At SeaWorld, marine mammals are trapped in concrete tanks where they are unable to swim freely like they can in the ocean. In the wild, orcas can travel up to 100 miles a day, while dolphins can travel up to 60. Instead, at SeaWorld, they can only swim in circles around their barren enclosure. These animals are incredibly intelligent and social. This often leads to many physical and mental problems among the animals.

Sign this petition to demand Sunwing Travel Group cut ties with this cruel company.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Hunter,

Despite knowing all the horrors that happen at SeaWorld, your company continues to sell tickets and tours. It is time to stop supporting this cruel company.

Many of the animals at SeaWorld have been taken from the wild and are now imprisoned in concrete tanks. Captivity denies these incredibly social and intelligent animals everything that is natural to them. The lack of physical and mental stimuli often leads to many problems among the animals. In the wild, orcas can travel up to 100 miles a day, while dolphins can travel up to 60. At SeaWorld, they can only swim in a circle around their barren enclosure while guests bang and press their faces against the glass.

Please consider no longer supporting this company and end the sale of tickets and tours. These animals should not continue to suffer for human entertainment.

Sincerely,

  1. “So many people insist they are against animal abuse, cruelty, suffering and the inhumane treatment of animals, yet they don’t understand they are actively engaging in and supporting egregious suffering, abuse, cruelty and inhumane treatment when they eat animals and their ‘by-products.’ If you are against cruelty, suffering and inhumane treatment, then you go vegan. It’s just that simple.” – Sarah Kiser

SeaWorld just laid off 300 people. The company is circling the drain. Why do business with these losers? Live animal entertainment is becoming a thing of the past. Book your groups to Cirque du Soleil instead.

  3. I am writing today to express my disgust that Sunwing would continue its partnership with SeaWorld even in light of the facts showing that it is an inhumane park. I am sure you are aware by now that SeaWorld persists in endangering humans and animals which include the death of three people and many orcas.

SeaWorld is known as a cruel environment for orcas by numerous former trainers as well as marine animal experts. There were also a number of musicians who were scheduled to perform at SeaWorld, including Willie Nelson, Trisha Yearwood, and Martina McBride, however, they canceled their performances after discovering for themselves how confinement to tanks leads orcas to become neurotic, self-destructive, and extremely dangerous.

Twenty-three orcas remain at SeaWorld in tiny, concrete tanks where they have lived in misery for years. Can you imagine being put under stress so powerful that you attack others, gnaw on metal gates and concrete corners of the tanks only to destroy your teeth, putting them at risk for chronic infections?

I ask that Sunwing please follow the lead of millions of families and the many public figures who refuse to endorse the abuse of marine mammals. Until then, I will no longer use your company until it discontinues its relationship with SeaWorld.
