Target: Richard Brown, District Attorney, Queens County, New York

Goal: Demand justice for 67 sick and injured animals kept in filthy conditions.

A woman who reportedly kept dozens of ill and neglected animals in filthy conditions has been indicted on charges of aggravated cruelty to animals and torturing or injuring animals, among other charges. Authorities found 67 cats and dogs in her home, with most of them suffering from various health issues, including matted and missing fur, crusty eyes, and even paralysis. Others suffered from dental diseases, ear mites, and respiratory infections.

Rescue staff claim that the home where the animals were found was covered in urine and feces to the point where they required respirators and protective clothing. The home was reportedly cluttered and full of fur, with the floors rotting from standing filth.

One dog, Dorothy, was in such poor condition due to chronic kidney and liver disease that she had to be euthanized. Another dog, named Bond, had an injury that caused him severe pain every time he moved, according to authorities. Fifty-five out of 57 cats were found to have serious health issues, according to reports.

According to rescuers, the treatment these animals received and the conditions they were kept in are tantamount to torture. “No person or animal should live in such wretched conditions,” said District Attorney Richard Brown. In order to ensure that no more animals are subjected to this brutal treatment, it is imperative that the person responsible for this is punished to the fullest extent of the law. Sign the petition below to demand that the owner is severely punished and banned from owning animals.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Brown,

Elizabeth Grant was recently indicted on charges of animal torture and aggravated animal cruelty in connection with the seizure of 67 animals from her home. The animals suffered various health conditions, ranging from missing fur, dental diseases, infections, parasites, and even paralysis. One dog was suffering so much that she had to be euthanized. The pets were kept in a home that was reportedly full of standing urine and feces on the floor to the point that the floors were rotting.

These conditions are tantamount to torture. In order to protect animals from similar treatment, the owner must be punished severely and banned from owning animals in the future. We, the undersigned, ask you to seek the maximum possible penalty against this woman, if she is convicted.

Sincerely,

Disgusting! Poor animals had no one to help them. Thank God someone reported her, which probably saved their lives. Please prosecute to the fullest extent of the law! This is a CRIME!!!

  2. Nancy Dunlap says:

This woman is a cruel individual who should be punished harshly and never be allowed to own animals again!

  3. I do not understand why this cruel owner is allowed to keep so many pets in the first place. I hope these poor babies are in good hands now and that they will be adopted by good families soon. Animals are naturally kind creatures and they should be treated with love and compassion.

  4. Dear Mr. Brown, Please be the one who stands up for these voiceless animals. Too many people who could stop this abuse never do a thing except a slap on the wrist! This person should be banned for live from owning any animals. Until someone makes the effort to punish this kind of abuse it will never end. God put all of the animals on our planet and told us to care for them. If you believe in God please do the right thing and be their voice!

  5. Hoarding is an illness that, in this case and many others like it, victimizes helpless animals. Dogs and cats are truly helpless without us….always depending on and trusting their human owners to take care of them. How these people fly under the radar is beyond me. Where are the family members? This woman did not nor will she ever, recognize the dire situation that they ALL were living in, until she gets help or is banned from owning another animal. She must be legally banned from obtaining other animals until she gets help for her mental illness. To do anything less would be a disservice to any innocent and unsuspecting creature that she gets her hands on. If she wants to live like that, let her but, don’t allow her to bring any other living being into that nightmare. Picture your beloved pet living with someone like that. It is unimaginable.
