Don’t Revoke Protections for Endangered Species

Target: Ken Paxton, Texas Attorney General

Goal: Drop lawsuit that threatens the nation’s endangered plant and animal life.

Eighteen Republican attorney generals have filed a lawsuit against the Obama administration in an effort to prevent the Fish and Wildlife Service from carrying out its essential duties. This lawsuit would weaken protections against hundreds of endangered plants and animals. The lawsuit, led by Texas’s and Alabama’s attorney generals, seeks to prevent the Fish and Wildlife Service from enacting protections on land where endangered species are native, but may not live.

This lawsuit, should it be carried out and potentially won by the Republicans, would set a dangerous precedent, one that may be deadly for hundreds of living things considering President-elect Donald Trump’s unwillingness to work with the agencies striving to protect the environment.

The Fish and Wildlife Service has the duty to protect the lands across the nation that may serve as a habitat for endangered species, regardless of whether the endangered animals currently live there. What’s left of our shrinking and struggling environment should be protected, not destroyed to meet political interests. Sign the petition to demand that the lawsuit be thrown out.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Paxton,

You are currently leading 17 of your fellow Republican attorney generals in a lawsuit against the Obama administration in an effort to strip the Fish and Wildlife Service of its right to protecting the habitats of endangered species. Your party believes that habitats should not be protected if species don’t actually live there.

With so little habitat left, you are setting a dangerous precedent that is sure to lead to an even more rapid extinction of our nation’s hundreds of endangered plants and animals. You have no right to rob these living beings of the only homes they have, simply for your own political satisfaction and gain. I demand that you drop your lawsuit and fall in line with the majority of Americans who believe that our environment and its beings should be protected.

Sincerely,

  1. SI SE DEJAN DE PROTEGER A LAS ESPECIES, EN EXTINCIÓN O NO, ESTAMOS FAVORECIENDO EL CRIMEN, EL SADISMO Y EL TERRORISMO EN LAS SOCIEDADES. NO PUEDEN PERMITIR Y NO TIENEN DERECHO A DEJAR A LAS ESPECIES, TODAS, SIN PROTECCIÓN. ES VITAL AHORA MÁS QUE NUNCA PONER LEYES ESTABLES Y DETERMINANTES QUE PROTEJAN A TODO SER VIVO, PORQUE YO CREO QUE EL PLANETA COMPLETO, HOY MISMO, ESTÁ EN TERRIBLE PELIGRO DE EXTINCIÓN.

  2. Republicans (and DT) don’t care about our wildlife, our environment or our planet–just their power and money.
If allowed, they will be responsible for the complete destruction of our country. They forget that they live here, too.
If the ecosystems are devastated, so goes our clean air, water and soil–and the beauty and health of the earth.

Do the republicans prefer ugly barren land devoid of healthy wildlife? Haven’t we done enough damage to everything natural?

Is there no limit to their political greed and selfishness?!

I did not write the letter. Had I done so, it would not have been so restrained.

Texas again shows us their total disregard for all wildlife. Does everyone in Texas hate their children and their grandchildren?

What a dumb thing to say Caryl. I live in Tx. Your sentence doesn’t apply to me or many people who live here so please don’t blanket indict everyone in Tx as “hating their children & grandchildren” and “disregarding all wildlife” because its just NOT true!! *~*

    Signed & Shared❗️😠

  5. Texas – please show the country you’re not just about land-grabs, and canned hunts, and cat-hating. I KNOW there are good people down there, so please speak out.

    Silence implies consent.
