Thank Poland for Ending Military Animal Abuse

Target: Poland Minister of National Defense Tomasz Siemoniak

Goal: Congratulate Poland for ending cruel and unnecessary military exercises that torture animals to death.

Poland’s military officials have taken the positive step of joining 22 other NATO nations in making a commitment to neither harm nor kill any animals in military drills. PETA has been campaigning in Poland for over two years to stop helpless pigs and goats from being “shot, cut open, mutilated or set on fire” in military exercises. Poland’s decision to stop these brutal practices is a victory for animals in Poland and around the world.

Supermodel and Poland native Joanna Krupa has been working with PETA to encourage the military to stop harming animals. She shared a congratulatory letter that she wrote to Poland Minister of National Defense Tomasz Siemoniak, which states, “I am proud that my home country recognizes that the lives of animals matter and that there are more humane and effective ways to teach people how to perform lifesaving medical treatments than by hurting animals.”

While Poland has taken this great step to stop harming animals in military exercises, several other countries, including the United States, still use these barbaric practices. According to PETA, simulators that bleed like human patients are a more effective and compassionate training tool. Animal rights activists will continue to work to ban the use of animals in military medical exercises, but for now let’s congratulate Poland on their decision to stop harming animals.

Dear Minister of National Defense Tomasz Siemoniak,

I would like to congratulate you on your recent decision to stop using animals in Polish military medical exercises. This is a positive step that will greatly benefit the welfare of animals. Hopefully, your move towards humane testing will help to influence militaries around the world.

Unfortunately, Denmark, Norway, Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States are still torturing animals in their military tests. As you know, there are simulators available that are a humane and effective alternative training tool for military tests. It is completely unnecessary to continue to shot, stab or set fire to helpless animals.

Thank you again for your compassionate decision to stop using animals in military exercises. I hope that you will continue to be a champion for animals and use your influence to encourage all NATO countries to ban the use of animals in military exercises.
