Justice for Dog Found Starving and Near Death With Seizures

Target: Alfred Durham, Chief of Police, Richmond, Virginia

Goal: Find and punish person responsible for starving a pit bull until near death.

A dog was recently found starving and walking the streets, severely emaciated and with many of his bones including his spine and his ribs showing. Though the pit bull, now named Lexington, has been taken in by animal care, his condition is so poor that it is still unknown whether or not he will recover.

Twelve hours after he was found, Lex was unable to walk and was experiencing multiple severe seizures. He was put on intravenous fluids and given anti-seizure medication. While the dog is making progress, care staff are still unsure whether he will ever properly recover and be able to be placed into a foster home.

The dog’s poor condition suggests that he was starved for a long period of time before being thrown on the streets. A dog on the streets could generally find scraps to eat from the trash. If the dog was roaming the streets in such poor condition for so long, it’s likely that a concerned citizen would have taken him in.

So far, the police have not yet identified a suspect in this case, meaning that the person responsible could be abusing more animals. In order to protect more animals from similar fates, it is imperative that the person responsible for this shocking neglect is found. Sign the petition below to demand that police find and punish the person responsible for this egregious case of animal cruelty.

Dear Mr. Durham,

A pit bull was recently found walking the streets, starving and with its spine, ribs, and bones visible. The dog was in such poor condition that after being transported to an animal hospital, it lost the ability to walk and began suffering from multiple severe seizures. Even after the dog received intravenous fluids and anti-seizure medication, its condition is still so poor that it is unknown whether or not he will survive.

So far, the police have not found a suspect in this case. This means that the person responsible for the severe neglect of this animal could still be mistreating other animals. In order to protect dogs from similar torture and mistreatment, it is imperative that they are apprehended immediately. We, the undersigned, ask you to dedicate extra resources to investigating this case and apprehending the person responsible for starving this dog.

  1. It should be mandatory for every pooch to have a chip, we’d find the owners soon enough,

  3. Elizabeth Bekker says:

This demon has to be executed!!! Reveal his name so that we can find him!!!

  4. How sad our country is “third world”, animal abuse is rampant as police put it aside, those arrested usually released. These abusers continue their abuse as they are aware they can get away with it. There’s no justice for animals.

  5. Patricia Walker says:

The punishment is not severe enough for animal abusers-this person is truly evil-hope he is caught before too long and that sweet dog will recover and find his forever loving home-sending prayers and kisses to this sweet baby!

  6. KatWrangler says:

Lex looks like a sweetheart. Now he’s with people who care, and love him. Love can bring animals back from the brink.
ALL animal, dogs and cats, should be chipped. That way we can trace the scumbags who abuse or abandon them. And then make that much-needed Animal Abuse Registry to make things more efficient.

And, again, someone knows who did this. Turn them in!!!

  7. somebody must know who owned this poor poor creature, just make sure they find them, then string him up and just let him starve to death real slow.

  8. Find this disgusting wicked evil peice of shit .if this was a child they would make damn fucking sure they find them and lock them up . Disgustingly poor little dogs like this are just a possession .the suffering this beatiful dog has endured makes me physicaly sick . I hope he makes a speedy recovery and finds a caring loving home . And for the dirty cunt that done this a severe battering !!!!

  9. I agree with Eva . An eye for eye starve the creep let’s see how he or she likes it. Do that a few times and maybe people will think twice about being an ass.

  10. Linda Amundson says:

The POS who did this to Let deserves a long time in jail, a big fine, needs to pay for Lex’s vet costs, and needs a lifetime ban on having any animals.

I’m glad there’s a petition for Lex but why call him “it” repeatedly on this petition?? What we’re called is how we’re treated. We need to stop calling animals “it” if we want them to stop being seen as or treated as ‘things’.
