Target: Keith E. Sirois, CEO of Big Boy Restaurants
Goal: Use only eggs from cage-free chickens in all Big Boy Restaurants.
Big Boy is one of the last major fast food restaurants that refuses to switch to cage-free eggs. Many of Big Boy’s competitors, including Denny’s, IHOP, and Bob Evans, have made a pledge to switch to cruelty-free farms. But despite ongoing pressure from animal activists, Big Boy has refused to also make the switch to farms that give their chickens space to roam.
Chickens that are trapped in cages face a lifetime of misery and confinement. The chickens spend their lives in cages that, on average, are about 67 square inches. This is smaller than a piece of letter-sized paper. With such a small amount of space, the chickens are unable to even spread their wings. The cages are crammed on top of each other and often kept in a dark, filthy room. In these conditions, the chickens are unable to follow their natural egg-laying instincts, resulting in misery for the birds. Caged chickens face some of the worst confinement in the farming industry.
Many major restaurants and grocery stores are no longer supporting caged farms. Now, Big Boy must follow suit. Tell Big Boy that you will not support a restaurant that continues to use eggs obtained from caged farms. Sign this petition to let Big Boy know that you want them to help end the cruel confinement of chickens.
Dear Mr. Sirois:
Big Boy is one of the only major fast food restaurants that refuses to switch to cage-free farms. Many of your competitors have made the switch to farms that allow their chickens to roam free, and I urge you to now do the same.
By getting your eggs from caged farms, you continue to support an industry that keeps its chickens confined to cages that are smaller than a piece of letter-sized paper. The chickens spend their entire lives in these cages in dark and filthy rooms. They’re unable to follow their natural nesting instincts, resulting in a miserable existence for the birds.
You have the chance to show that Big Boy does not support these cruelty conditions. For the good of the chickens that spend their lives confined in cages, please stop supporting caged chicken farms.
