Demand Cruel Circus Retire Its Elephants

Target: Barbara Miller Byrd, Owner and Manager of Carson & Barnes Circus

Goal: Retire all of Carson & Barnes Circus’s elephants to accredited sanctuaries.

A popular traveling circus continues to exploit elephants for profit despite the fact these elephants are old, tired and in visible pain. Carson & Barnes Circus forces these gentle animals to perform tricks in front of large, loud crowds and travel in cages across the nation.

Circus animals suffer physically and mentally. Typically, the animals are neglected and kept in their cages for much too long. In addition, bullhooks are a common tool used to prompt these elephants to do as the trainers desire. Bullhooks are long tools with sharp, metal ends used to prod the elephants into submission. Carson & Barnes Circus has been cited by the USDA several times for animal welfare concerns and trainers have been recorded while screaming profanities at the elephants.

Sign this petition and demand Carson & Barnes Circus finally retire all its elephants to accredited sanctuaries. Elephants are gentle, social and intelligent animals who deserve to be surrounded by friends, trees and sunshine.

Dear Ms. Byrd,

More and more circuses are deciding to make the compassionate change and get rid of their animal acts and retire their animals to accredited sanctuaries. Unfortunately, that is not the case with your circus. Instead, you continue to use and imprison your elephants despite their old age and suffering.

Animals held in captivity suffer mentally and physically. They are denied everything natural to them including playing with friends, running through the trees, soaking up the sunshine and taking a bath in a lake. Instead, your elephants are forced to perform tricks in front of large, jeering crowds. It is time to stop holding these gentle animals captive for profit.

Please consider retiring all of your elephants to accredited sanctuaries. They deserve so much more in life than to be cooped up in cages, carted around from state to state and forced to put on shows. It is incredibly unfair, inhumane and greedy to continue to do so.

  1. ROSEMARY Anderson says:

What a disgrace to human-kind you are. To make money from cruelly abusing animals just shows how low you vile gits are. Release these animals to a sanctuary and you may redeem part of your black soul.

  2. How low can you get by using Gods Voiceless Creations for the sake of making money. They are loving, living, breathing, being that feel pain, torture, hunger, exhaustion, dehydration, neglect and cruel abuse as you are inflicting in them. You are supporting animal abuse which is the most grievous bottom of the scum you can be. This poor exhausted, old or young sick elephants need to be retired and sent to a sanctuary as God planned for them to live. Let God touch your heart and it will probably help your selfish, cruel soul. This is very cruel, emotional and heartbreaking.
